Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 25, 2010 10:52 pm We're thinking of going with Surfmist Roof, Gutters & Facias and Colorbond Dune as the render colour, with either Surfmist or Dune Garage Door. Has anyone got any pics of this colour scheme or something similar so I can visualise how this will look?? Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Anyone got any pics?? 2Mar 26, 2010 10:56 am I'm interested in this too. We are having half strength Dune render, but with Woodland grey roof. Would like to see pics of Dune render though, as I have a feeling my hubby is going to want the full strength colour Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Anyone got any pics?? 3Mar 26, 2010 11:01 am I love Dune and Surfmist together and I think you will need full strength, it's not a dark colour in the sunlight. I don't have any render in Dune but my water tanks are Dune and they are quite light. Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Anyone got any pics?? 4Mar 27, 2010 6:13 pm In my honest opinion I would not go half tint dune. When doing an outside render colour in normal strength the colour is generally lighter anyhow due to the sun and light.
As SUH mentioned, Dune is not really a dark colour in the first place. Dune is a lovely colour. We have gone for the Dune roof. I don't know where the link is on the forum, but I know a while ago someone posted a picture of their Dune rendered house and it looked lovely... I will try and find it for you. Good Luck. PS: Just a tip, buy a sample pot of the paint you are thinking of, paint a few boards, and check it out in different daylight hours. EDIT: Just found a link to a gorgeous home using the Dune colour. I hope I am allowed to post it here goes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20588&p=285640#p285640 But this wasn't even the one I was thinking off ... so I know there is another one out there too .... Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Anyone got any pics?? 5Mar 27, 2010 6:16 pm Thanks for that Jaelee (sorry to hijack thread). We had picked full strength, but the builder talked us out of it because they thought it would be too dark with the woodland grey roof (whole house is rendered) I've been having second thoughts since, but trusted there advise! Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Anyone got any pics?? 6Mar 27, 2010 7:45 pm Suh is right, definitely go full strength. When using colour outside you can be far bolder than indoors because the sun washes so much of the colour out. I'm doing a project at the moment with some dark colours on the façade, but the overall effect gives the house some much needed depth. The roof will be Dune, the gutters & fascia Surfmist, weatherboards Nile Clay and rendered brickwork Western Myall. Dune Surfmist Nile Clay Western Myall In the daylight these colours wont appear anywhere near as dark. And if too lighter colour is used, your house could appear to be 'washed out'. Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Anyone got any pics?? 7Mar 28, 2010 12:24 pm We are having dune colorbond cladding with surfmist roof and fascia. No pictures as yet, as you cant see the roof (flat roof) and the walls are not clad yet. We are mixing it up with a bit of woodland grey on decking fascia and possibly a feature wall of shadow clad AND also bright white windows and window/door surrounds. Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? I have just signed a variation to go full strength thanks to everyones advice here, and I feel so much better about it. Re: Surfmist Roof with Dune Render? Hey, thats my house!! I think the other you may have been looking at was an older thread called Megzy's Metric0n. They have the same colour scheme. I agree with everyone else, full strength Dune. Anyone got any pics?? 10May 19, 2016 5:18 pm Hello all...this is an old post,,,But i was wondering if you went with full strength Dune or half? I am also thinking off going Dune for my exterior. I actually saw a gorgeous house and knocked on their door to ask if they could tell me the name of the colour they used, and the lady was nice enough to tell me it was Dune. So i went straight to Dulux to get a colour pot made up. I have just painted some on a wall and it looks really dark compared to the colour I saw on the nice house. I know it will lighten once the sun hits it, but in the shade it just looks so dark! A bit worried.....Anyone got photos of their house painted in full strength Dune??? Thank you so much.
