Hi,
We would like to have some feature walls in our house. We are just thinking if it is worth hiring a painter to do the work?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

You will need to use painters tape around the edges and on the skirtings and this needs to be put on straight other wise you will see the crooked parts when you peel off the paint. If the new wall colour is really dark you will need a dark undercoat plus 2 coats of the feature colour. If these where my feature walls I would employ a painter as I would be worried I would mess it up! Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. I know a few good painters in Sydney - where are you? Someone on the forum will know of a painter in your area. Or speak to the painter who has done your house, if you are happy with him. Painting a neutral colour on walls and ceilings is one thing and very easy to do. But if you are doing feature walls in strong colours, you need to have a good eye and hand. There are painters and there are painters, getting the cheapest one may not sometimes be the best. You get what you pay for………………..ask around and get names of good ones, then get quotes. For the $40 for a tin of undercoat and $40 for a tin of paint an edger and a roller, if it looks create you have the confidence to try the next thing and if it looks crap you have wasted $100 and it will cost you no more than it would have originally to get someone into go over it. I'm no good with a brush (lol, all too happy to admit that) but edgers, tape and rollers can get most people up-to a decent standard, and if you've had a hard look at the paint the builder provided painters do, well even I can say that my ******* handy work can equal that on a bad day.
