Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 24, 2010 12:37 pm Hi Michelle - I am fairly new to forums and have a question if you have time. I posted it on General but Bel advised I post here. I think it is fantastic that you give your time to help others this way We are doing a reno which is virtually a rebuild of 2 story house near beach and wondering about exterior colour. House exterior will be mostly hardiboard ''linea'' with some render/bagging. Windows and stacker/sliding doors are to be White Birch, balustrades will be oiled timber and glass, posts same timber, staircase (external)oiled timber, roof colourbond Dune, decks will be tiled in a 600mm square tile that looks like limestone but is Italian ceramic. The same tile goes through most of interior - with a matte finish/rough outside. The theme inside will be light and coastal - Dulux white opal walls, latte benchtops in caesarstone, touches of aqua(splashback) and timber furniture/chocolate leather lounges/cane chairs. Double front entry doors are to be Corinthian oiled timber and glass. We love White Opal and are considering also using it for exterior walls and render but know it is not usually exterior paint. This colour used to be called white Opal/White Birch so window colours are same. Double garage will have new doors and thought we may go for the Dune or another colour - Paperbark, Warm Neutral or sandy day??? What do you think about white opal as exterior colour? Re: Exterior colour quandry??? 2Feb 24, 2010 7:14 pm Goodyear…are you able to post some photos? At this stage they have ripped out all that goes and have started work on slab for extension section. I do have photo of house before we started but new house will be quite a change. Windows, doors, tiles, Pc items and kitchen appliances have all been chosen and ordered - we are working with the builder and we are sourcing some products as the build is mid north coast near beach. I retired late 2008 and took on preparing our home to sell and project managing this reno/build which will be our retirement home. Have loved every minute. ( Noted your other forum on Real estate and have added a comment - so true what you say) I am only unsure about the exterior colour but also my instinct tells me it will work. I went into Dulux and Studiom.com and played with a house with the colours we want ( Dune Roof and guttering and White Opal paint) and it looks really good. (with oiled timber balastrades and front door). So at this stage I won't take more of your time as the paint colour won't be needed for a while ( just me planning ahead ) and let the building take its new shape then if I am still unsure I will post photos and ask further advise. I apologise if I used your time but was feeling unsure about White Opal used exterior and really wondered if it had been done by others::lol:: Still need to think about eaves but think I will stick to either a true white or white opal again. Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding. Below floor level to the ground I want to put brick facings /… 0 4480 1.
