Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 27, 2011 3:38 pm Hi there, I'm looking at furnishing my formal living room. I'm ok with both leather and fabric lounge. I have white wall colours with grey carpet and choclate brown coloured roller blinds. I have also attached a copy of floor plan and some furniture settings for formal living. I have my TV in my family so I'm not intending to use this room as entertainment room. I saw a lounge suite in harvey norman which I found to be very interesting. I have also attached it. Recently I came across metal wall decors. I thinking of having one as well with acqua blue themed. It would be great to get your suggestions on this? I like option 2. However I would put the 3 seater on the long wall and have the 2 seater between the 2 windows. Gorgeous couches and the artwork would look fabulous above the 3 seater couch. Re: Furnishing formal living room - Need help 4Apr 27, 2011 8:23 pm I'd definitely go Option 1 especially of no tv is in the room. It'll be more inviting I think and more personal for those talking moments Re: Furnishing formal living room - Need help 5Apr 28, 2011 2:10 am Starz I like option 2. I also think the artwork you've linked is a little too strong for that room given the colour combination you already have (white, grey and chocolate). I have something similar, but it's in raw steel with no colouring: http://www.modernabstractdecor.com/product/24-A Maybe see if there's another artwork that would suit the room? Judie Re: Furnishing formal living room - Need help 6Apr 28, 2011 12:17 pm @Starz I didn't quite get you. If I put in like you said it would look like one below. Please correct me if I'm wrong. http://www.flickr.com/photos/digijagan/5663283462/in/photostream I would have an empty space on one corner of the room (the one facing large window). Thanks for your comments on couches and artwork. @kiwichick Thanks @kiwichick, I thought a metal decor would stand out when compared to a painting. I do get the point that it might look bit overpowering. If that’s not good, then do you have any other suggestions? I have seen Stephanie’s art in eBay which is quite good (it has got aqua blue, chocolate and white colour). Please see below link http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AQUA-BLUE-CHOCOLATE-CREAM-ABSTRACT-PAINTING-STEPHANIE-/250761248023?pt=AU_Paintings&hash=item3a6288fd17 @Dollar Personally I like Option 1 but the lounges are a 3 seater and 2 seater. Will it look good if I have it arranged that way? Else, I have to fork out few hundreds of dollars to get two 3 seater instead of 2 + 3 seater combo. You are spot on regarding the purpose of this room. Thanks @Judie I like your option of having just aluminium panels but how can I incorporate an aqua blue themed room? That’s the reason I thought I would add blue colours to decor. It need not be as strong as the one I mentioned earlier but at least a small portion may be? Thanks for the link, artworks in them are so gorgeous, no wonder they are so expensive. Re: Furnishing formal living room - Need help 7Apr 28, 2011 11:36 pm hmm I still reckon option 1 will work best despite 2 and 3 seater. How big is the room? You could always add an occasional chair near the 2 seater with a nice floor lamp in the room which I think will set the room up nicely. https://www.jimmypossum.com.au/products/239-delphi.aspx Perhaps not an occasional chair like this but something that will compliment the furniture already being used.
