Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 25, 2010 11:49 pm Hi! We're building a new house and need to decide our external finishes. Our colour scheme is green, silver (zincalume), white, dark grey, and possibly some timber. The majority of our walls will be horizontal Weathertex (hardwood panels) with a wood grain, painted a mist-green colour (the colour of the cubby house in this photo http://picasaweb.google.com/kwacky1/Lil ... 7142004450). Our windows are white aluminium. Our gutters are grey (woodland Grey zincalume) http://www.colorbondcolours.com/go/bsl- ... dland-grey Front door - timber - http://www.humedoors.com.au/doorfinder_ ... ctname=XR5 As our builder is building us a similar style shed next to the house, we'd like to make sure the two complement each other. The shed will be horizontal zincalume (silver) with Wilderness colourbond rollerdoors http://www.colorbondcolours.com/go/bsl- ... wilderness, and we were thinking of matching the green paint of the house, or possibly the grey of the house gutters with painting the fibro above and below the shed windows with dark grey to match. We've attempted a google sketchup of the house http://picasaweb.google.com/kwacky1/DropBox#, but can't figure out external finishes. We so far have decided: * green horizontal weathertext for the main walls of the house * horizontal zincalume around the celestory windows. Possibly having fibro above and below the celestory windows (a very small space). I also like the idea of introducing some small amount of timber there, but not sure how * possibly the wall around the front door and around the left wall of the entrance room being painted dark grey to match the gutters and make the entrance stand out. * possibly adding horizontal zincalume above and below the two eastern windows (note the double hungs in the sketchup drawing have been replaced with normal sliding windows, so more space above and below those windows available for painting/textures). * we will probably have timber railings on our verandas with horizontal wires, to add another timber element Any tips? Profiles with larger corrugations can greatly change the appearance of the color in different… 0 2181 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 26235 |
