Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 25, 2010 6:33 pm I am Interior Designer and was just talking to my husband saying that it would be great to have a 'buddy' in the industry to bounce idea's off. He's in an industry where they have a buddy system (they are in central victoria, but their buddy is in warrnambool so there is no competition between the 2) and think it's a great idea. It's just me in my business and often think about trying to establish common ground between 2 ID's but it wouldn't work in my town. So....i was wondering if tehre are a few designers on the board & if anyone would be interested? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this type of thing, so if it's not, that's fine..... Re: How many Interior Designers/Decorators are there? buddy up? 2Jan 25, 2010 6:47 pm Hey MBBN, Interesting idea! It's kinda funny really, when I was studying I used to bounce ideas of everyone in the class "do you think this layout works?" and alike, then graduation and it was like this invisible line appeared I suppose you always have your client/s to talk with but I can certainly see the benefit of a buddy. I tend to brainstorm with my builder; but really that's just more so him telling me "Strewth! That'll cost an arm and a leg to move that wall!" Re: How many Interior Designers/Decorators are there? buddy up? 3Jan 26, 2010 6:41 am I’m a decorator and colour specialist. 15 years in the industry and I don’t brain storm with anyone….but would be happy to if needed. Its a great site, very helpful. Anyway your forum caught my attention Im not a decorator but a graphic designer but seriously considering a career change for a while now. Interior design has always interested me but it has only recently hit me maybe this may be the direction I should try go in. as whilst looking around display homes for builders I seem to be more interested in the decorating finishes. I keep thinking how great these designers are, looking at all the detail they had gone to, my poor husband pulling me along. (there are so many display homes on the gold coast I don't blame him really It's like a giant long window shopping spree, the poor guy) Lol : ) Well anyway Just thought It would be lovely to ask a professional what they thought of the industry, Is it hard to get into, or to get a job. or any advise good or bad I would love to know. Thank you kindly Re: How many Interior Designers/Decorators are there? buddy 5Apr 15, 2010 6:57 pm Hi Beanie15, it’s a very rewarding job…MOST of the time. It certainly has it days, there’s no ****** about that. Its hard work getting established once you do the course and set out to be in business, it takes a lot of dedication. It’s a good idea when you first start out to establish yourself with someone as the decorator, colour consultant or anything else relating to the industry, just for a while so you get the feel of it. Look into it, if it feels right for you, then go for it! Good luck! Thanks 0 615 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105533 They already have two well known ones (HIA & MBA) that many new home buyers mistakenly think are regulatory bodies that Joe Public can complain to. 6 18019 |
