So I've got my wallpaper feature wall done in my sitting room, now I need a mirror. Does anyone have any suggestions? Post a photo if you can find one.
This is the wall.

The problem is I have a lovely rectangular mirror that I bought before I did the wallpaper and now I think it looks all wrong. I am thinking round myself, to echo the flowers on the wallpaper. Just not sure how simple or ornate, and what sort of frame. Any thoughts on a round mirror? Re: Suggest me a mirror 5Jan 19, 2010 1:02 pm Decorators and designers look at proportion. So to me the best proportion in design for a mirror is to go with a mirror that is the same proportion as your mantel of your fireplace. So this would be a mirror……mirroring your shape….rectangular. Round will work, no problems there, but would look more balanced if rectangular. I agree ^ I'd go with a huge rectangluar mirror hung horizontally Building 'The Kingston' (with 'Boston' elevation) through Blueprint Homes in Hocking, Perth **PCI complete 06.02.10** My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17607 Re: Suggest me a mirror 9Jan 19, 2010 1:37 pm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Suggest me a mirror 10Jan 19, 2010 1:38 pm Didnt mean to imply that I disagreed with Michelles advice by posting the pics of the round mirrors so apologies if I offended - its so darned hard to make sure you come across the right way when posting on the www. Maybe you could look at something like this if round is definitely how you wanted go? As I said, I originally bought a large, rectangular mirror that looks fantastic with the mantle (the frame has similar square detail in the corners) but it just doesn't look right with the wallpaper. Congratulations. Thanks, it's by no means finished. I have to get a rug, a coffee table, lamps and then furnish the mantle and tables. I'm not sure what to do about the rug and table though, it's not a big space so I don't know whether to put in a coffee table or just two side tables on either side of the couch. I will get the mirror first then go from there. Some of the furniture is antique, and the wing chairs are traditional, but I want to mix it up a bit style wise, that's why I want a more modern, simple mirror. The coffee table I want is glass and chrome, and I'm thinking about a cream shag rug to lighten up the middle of the room and stop it looking overloaded. Any other suggestions welcome though. Re: Suggest me a mirror 17Jan 19, 2010 3:31 pm Re: Suggest me a mirror 18Jan 19, 2010 7:53 pm What an absolutely divine room!! Is that Laura Ashley wallpaper? It's gorgeous! I love your wing back chairs and the table...it's just so elegant! I would be suggesting a large rectangular mirror hung horizontally too. Here is my mirror I have in my entrance hall to give you another suggestion, but I think mine is too frame 'heavy' for your wall. A toned down version would look lovely! Although I could see it more in a warmer tone to go with the warmer tones of the wallpaper, tiles around the fireplace and the cushions. BUT, if you are definitely having a glass and chrome coffee table, then I would go silver! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ..and I'd love to know what sort of coffee table you have in mind! I just have to finish off the curtains, and the lighting. And something else simple for the left side of the mantel. I like that the round shape echos the flowers in the wallpaper, and that it isn't too big so it covers up too much of my lovely paper. The original mirror is sitting up against the wall on the left, but is about to be sold on ebay. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Well these guys are not looking good...
