Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 17, 2010 3:15 pm Hi there we are having rosegum floorboards throughout the main living areas and carpet to the games room and bedrooms. The walls will be in Antique white with the occasional feature wall. I was going to get white painted MDF skirting boards throughout the entire house but our flooring company has offered to make and install skirting boards out of the same rosegum as my floorboards for the same price as the MDF. WHich would be the best do you think? In terms of both look and durability etc? thanks about to build our first home! Re: waht type of skirting boards should I go for? 2Jan 17, 2010 5:32 pm Hi wallywombat7 As far as durability is concerned, the Rosegum would win hands-down! However, I think you need to consider what architraves you have installed. I would recommend that you tie the skirting and architraves in, keeping them the same profile and perhaps doing the skirting in a slighting wider width. Hope this helps Re: waht type of skirting boards should I go for? 3Jan 17, 2010 9:59 pm white skirtiings always look good around a timber floor as it almost gives a frame effect to the floor, hilighting it as a feature. I have 6" white skirtings and 3" timber architraves with solid timber doors inside. Re: waht type of skirting boards should I go for? 4Jan 18, 2010 5:15 pm thanks for the advice. We like the look of white skirting boards too, but just tempted by the offer I guess. about to build our first home! Building Standards; Getting It Right! Is this acceptable in a new house build. Floors where installed by builder. Already chips in board and skirting is not flush 0 190 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1936 |
