Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 22Jan 10, 2010 12:56 pm billdsl i got version confused, now that we've started talking about it we like the idea of painting something and not touching the roller door. id give both front sections a try in the darker colour but DW isnt keen, reckon you could do up a jasper on both front sections view? No probs Hope I understood what you wanted (both the left and right side renders changed to the darker colour - I don't know what jasper looks like ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 23Jan 10, 2010 1:11 pm thats the one, thanks not the look we're after. changing the roller door to either surfmist or jasper are the two clear winners out of this..... Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 24Jan 10, 2010 1:22 pm I was very taken with the dark roller door + dark blinds look, though since dark blinds are not an option I'd have to put my vote in with the dark roller door look Really helps tie together your colours. Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 26Jan 10, 2010 1:28 pm Vunderful, Any chance of surfmist walls. I think it needs to be seen. The RGB code is 226, 227, 224. (Jasper is 106, 96, 85 and for a check Dune is 183, 178, 172). Any other favourite? And I think that in real life, the contrast between Dune and Surfmist will be even more so. We built 4 years ago when the fake timber look was in and now I cringe everytime I see the doors down! Would love to re-paint ours Woodland Grey to match the roof but I also feel that it's too big of a risk to take - surely it can't be that easy? Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 32Jan 10, 2010 2:59 pm will do, DW doesnt want me to touch the roller door at all, but i think ill at least look into it. according to this it sounds quite easy, just need some chemical assistance --> http://www.somersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54576 Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. I love how this looks. Definately look at the darker garage door. Instead of making the blinds darker, what about having the windows tinted. It gives the same dark look on the outside but you can keep the white blinds for the inside. Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 34Jan 10, 2010 3:20 pm I think I would like to see a nice White Fantasy Mandevilla growing on either side where the drain pipes are, space permitting of course. Depending on the colours you choose, it (they) would lovely in a nice ceramic pot (s), be it grey, white or black? As easy as painting a down pipe. Anoth train of thought Billdsl, and you have to go with me on this.......... add another element to your front yard, I think your mix of colours is correct and the balance is great I just feel like you need to add something else and more depth......this will happen once your plants are more mature but another idea is this..... how about some timber panels across or between your front 2 windows...... you could make them yourself you decide on widths and heights but something like this... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ or this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and to tie them in add a similar slatted planter box next to your letterbox and also one on the other side of your garage. This will create the bouncing ball effect that takes people eye across your facade and brings it all together as a total look. You could put The maxs flowers in your planter boxes You could if you don't like wood as an addition have them painted ina feature colour. Now forgive if I haven't made any sense or I have talked to much. It is sunday and I am only at half brain function Re: Advice on colours for front of house, not 100% happy 36Jan 10, 2010 4:01 pm thanks for the idea's, i did think of making timber gates rather than using colorbond, but now that the colorbonds are in it will be a while before wanting to spend the money making replacement gates. i dont know about the timber screens personally though. planter boxes though.... i dont know anything about them but would love some more spots for plants out the front without turning it into potsville themax i think i have a mandevilla out the back on my retaining wall area, are they similar to the red riding hoods? if so i think thats her, nice plant and would go well out the front with the white, its growing very well, just need room somewhere gweluphome i would love to get a rundown on how you repainted your roller door! That way you can have what ever curtains you like (keep the one's you have) and if you tinted them yourself if probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Good idea me thinks, fairy blue! That was for a sliding door, large window, three long skinny windows and three small square windows plus some translucent film for our front doors. We only have two people here who do it and we ended up with a young guy who does it in his spare time and does a great job. That sucks! Hope it all works out.
