Thought it was going to be easy as we wanted everything the same as the Display @ Stonecutters Ridge.. however now i have to use my brain.. All Finally Done March 2012 Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 4Dec 02, 2009 12:25 pm Unless you can have the timber windows, timber front door and timber garage door, I think the 'classic' facade looks a bit basic and rather boring.... therefore I agree with you. Can you ask the builder if they can do a combination facade? Or what about making the cladding the dark colour and the render a lighter shade thereof? Still wouldnt have enough impact, I think? The Galaxy with Macquarie facade by Young Homes Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 5Dec 02, 2009 2:03 pm I actually really like the Classic as you have posted it here. The colours translate really well. I am a bit over the wood to be honest, mainly because in estates a few years old, probably 80% of those with wooden windows don't maintain them and they look sh!t. Remember to account for the fact that without a balcony, staining those top story windows will be a PITA for a DIY or more expensive to get a painter in. Just something else to consider. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 7Dec 02, 2009 3:50 pm Thanks guys.. i really don't mind the Classic Facade, however as i initially fell in love with Majestic Facade display home, it's hard to let go.. What do you think of an alfresco that measures 4.8m (length) x 4.4 (wide).. i am not a fan of a square shape alfresco, but if that's what fits is it fine ?!? All Finally Done March 2012 Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 8Dec 02, 2009 6:45 pm I like the Classic too - the weatherboards are a real feature, and I've seen some great colour choices on similar facades in my neighbourhood. I wouldn't go for boring white or cream, unless you have some wow factor in your render or bricks.... 4.8 x 4.4m isn't huge, but it could work - it really depends on what furniture etc you're planning to put in your alfresco and how you'll use the space. joles I am a bit over the wood to be honest, mainly because in estates a few years old, probably 80% of those with wooden windows don't maintain them and they look sh!t. I have to agree....our windows are about to get a sand and re-varnish over the Christmas holidays. It'll be a yearly job for the facade, six-monthly for our north-facing French doors and hopefully only every two years for the bifolds which are under cover... It peeves me when people shell out big bucks for something, then don't do the maintenance, whether it's peeling paint on timber windows or unmown lawns and weedy garden beds. Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 9Dec 02, 2009 7:20 pm My new alfresco area is 5x5 and it is fine - it is right near the lawn and pool and the paved pool area is next to it also - therefore it is all one big area except for the glass fence. You have 4 sq m less - it would only be a problem if you have a large BBQ or large outdoor furniture. How big is the alfresco in the classic? I do like that Majestic facade. Thanks for the tips so far.. Kerrin - the alfresco on the Classic will be 7.35m (length) and 4.30m (wide). Kek - my problem last night was going through all the external/internal colours that would work with the Classic Facade and i just came to the point that "i cannot be bothered" My dad suggested this.. how bout build the Majestic without the alfresco and once complete you could always add a nice long deck out back.. interesting... could work ?!? Here is the pic of the display alfresco.. Thats just my personal opinion. i think our last alfresco area was 4.5 x 5 and it was pretty good (although we had it tiled and had tiles extending beyond the under-roof area. We had a big 10 seat table under that and our bbq and yeah had no problems. I think that size alfresco will be fine if you really really want the majestic facade... If you can get your head around the classic facade, I would go bigger alfresco in a heartbeat. Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 12Dec 03, 2009 2:29 pm I agree with Ms builder. Do the under roof alfresco. The add on later decking will definitely look just that - an add on. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. The Galaxy with Macquarie facade by Young Homes Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 13Dec 03, 2009 2:35 pm The classic facade will look good with the right colours - the colours they've selected make it look boring. I would close the alfresco over the facade. Remember - plants and everything at the front will make it look different too. The colours of the majestic facade look really nice. Could you use those instead? Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 14Dec 03, 2009 3:50 pm Arrghh.. still undecided... Mrs Smith - i don't think the colour scheme on the Majestic will work well on the Classic Facade - wish it did, as it would have been an easy choice. My problem i guess, is that my current furniture and interior design works well with the Majestic Facade, however if i go with the Classic it would look to basic (white or light interior).. Kerrin & Ms B - should i take the risk and hold out on the alfresco ? my partner is buggin me that we must have a roof on the alfresco.. would have been happy with just a deck.. oh well.. Any tips on the Classic external colour scheme would be a great help.. Thanks once again.. All Finally Done March 2012 Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 15Dec 03, 2009 4:53 pm Dont add on a deck afterwards. Your partner is right. Stick with your alfresco area. classic colour scheme - what colour is the render? Could you go a shade lighter for the cladding on the 1st floor and keep the render the same colour? Can you choose the majestic front door and keep the garage a cream off white colour? Your front door doesnt have to be the same colour as your garage door. Mine isn't and it looks fine. You can make a feature of your timber front door. I assume windows are a colour bond colour? There are lots of colours to choose from. My windows are white birch which is a pale cream. My garage door is the same. What colour are the roof tiles? Dark grey would be nice. I also prefer the lighter brick of the majestic and this would be fine with the classic colours ( from what I can see from the photos) Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. The Galaxy with Macquarie facade by Young Homes Re: Late Switch Of Facades - Now Colour Trouble 16Dec 03, 2009 5:07 pm Dont base your decision on the display alfresco. Unless yours will look EXACTLY like that, I wouldnt base it on that display one. Probably do the Majestic, and extend the alfresco out past the roofline?
