The floors will be wood and a mocha/coffee coloured carpets upstairs. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanking you in advance for your time... Re: Is paperbark too dark for wall paint colour??? 2Nov 23, 2009 3:12 pm Hi orangie, what you need to keep in mind is colours seem darker than they really are under un natural light (inside). so if you like the colour paperbark, get it in a half or quater strength, that way you still have the same colour but its not so strong. I personally think that full strength paperbark is too strong a colour for inside, but it does depend on what feel and look you are going for, there are no rules with what colour to use. I think our eaves were actually half strength and I still think its too dark (for me). What about hog bristle or beige royal? Im sure people have used those full strength on their walls... I am thinking of beige royal half for our walls, but havent really looked into it that much yet... Re: Is paperbark too dark for wall paint colour??? 4Nov 23, 2009 4:56 pm It all depends on the look you're going for. I used Paperbark on our weatherboards and some trim around the facade, but my interior wall colour is WAY darker - Wattyl Castilian. With white trims and an off-white ceiling, it looks great. At least I think so.... It's quite dramatic at night, but in bright daylight comes up much paler. Paperbark inside would have been much too wishy-washy for my liking. Outside, it's a nice contrast to our dark render and spouting. You need to know what you want the finished effect to be - there's no one right answer to the question. Re: Is paperbark too dark for wall paint colour??? 5Nov 23, 2009 5:42 pm Thanks for the suggestions. Kek, that is exactly the sort of look I am trying to achieve. the paint you have is very nice against the white. I am looking more for a coffee like colour rather than a brown but pretty much the same type of look. What white did you use for the skirtings and ceilings? Re: Is paperbark too dark for wall paint colour??? 6Nov 23, 2009 6:26 pm There are lots of beautiful cafe latte shades around, so I'm sure you'll find something you like. Our trims are Wattyl Pearly Gates and the ceiling is Wattyl Bone. Lovely contrast, not stark whiter-than-white, but fresh and bright against the wall colour. Re: Is paperbark too dark for wall paint colour??? 7Nov 23, 2009 7:50 pm I dont think paperbark is too dark for inside but it is just a matter of taste. If you have bright sunny rooms then go with the paperbark, if you like it - it may only be a bit dark if it is in a dim hallway. Dulux "Buff it" is a nice light latte colour. Hog Brislte was mentioned before - I have Hog Bristle Walls ceilings and trim but have "Self - destruct" in the study which is a darker shade. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. There may be some spots where it will look dark, but you get that with most colours other than white and off white Try a sample first. Still not sure. It is such a difficult decision and I don't just want to go with a neutral colour to be on the safe side. I would rather go with something I like. I need to see photos of walls painted in Hog bristle to see if it will give the effect I am after but I do like the colour. I will do a search on the forum. thanks everyone. Any other suggestions much appreciated.
