Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 21, 2009 7:17 am I want to get some stools for my kitchen bench but I'm unsure of what height I need. The stool I like (which is online) comes in 66cm and 76cm. We are having a standard height kitchen bench (about 90cm I think) with tiles for the floor. We want to be able to sit comfortably at the bench so would the 66cm be the right height or is that too low? Here is the stool: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Stool Height 2Nov 21, 2009 7:49 am I think you need to go with the 66cm as you need to allow for the thickness of your bench and you have to allow room for your leg / knees. My bench is 90 high and stool is 70 and bench is 4.5cm thick. I fit my knees comfortably under the bench. People are all different sizes so you will have to allow for different sized legs I am 54 kg while someone who is bigger would need more knee room. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. You might have longer legs than some of us….prob, definitely me! Your best bet is to go and sit on some. Then work out who needs what leg space in the family. We are all on the shorter side but do have taller friends and family so I would say the shorter one is probably the way to go. Maybe I'll take a trip out to the display and see what height stool they have there Re: Stool Height 5Nov 21, 2009 5:16 pm I just measured our stools and they're 67cm tall. Benches are 900mm, with a floating floor. They seem to be about right for anyone who sits on them, no matter how tall - vertically challenged people (like me) use the rail around the bottom of the stool to rest our feet on. Re: Stool Height 6Nov 21, 2009 6:22 pm I recently bought stools for my island. we ended up going with the taller size. i think they were 76cm and our benches are 950. They fit fine, but the sales lady did say with 900 benches the smaller size is better and with the 1000 bar bench, you go the taller stools. If i had looked around more prior to buying them, i would have bought adjustable stools. Saw some nice hydrolic types ones on grays online and they were very cheap. One day, i'll upgrade mine. i just got very basic ones now as i'm still paying off the new kitchen! Re: Stool Height 7Nov 22, 2009 7:04 pm I have 900 benches (plus floating floor) and 63cm high bar chairs. They are perfect. The taller size in that style is 74cm and they fit the 110cm bench/bar. The taller ones would look silly with a standard height bench IMO, and the 63cm ones are just right. Many people have sat on them and don't have a problem. I'd say the 66cm ones you are looking at would be perfect. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!!
