Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 16, 2009 6:38 pm Hi Michelle & fellow H1 members, Our home is nearly finished being built and we are laying our own flooring after handover with one small/large problem - colours!! Our main issue is choosing a colour/flooring that will match the colours we selected in our dining/family/kitchen area. Finding it really hard trying to match a black and white kitchen! We initially wanted blackbutt timber flooring but now looking at both quick-step largo white varnished oak or a nice tile. Leaning more towards a tile though! Here are some images - what do you think of the grey charcoal tile? is it too dark? The quick-step is ok but not sure how this will look over 100 sqm. Your help plzzzz If anyone out there has a black and white kitchen, plz send your pics. Its gorgeous and i think it will look very expensive and classy when finished. Can you please tell me what the tile is called and where you got it from, i havent seen anything like that here. V Re: Flooring colour for black and white kitchen 3Nov 16, 2009 8:02 pm That type of wood doesn't do it for me nor the kitchen. However, I think the tile looks perfect with the kitchen colour tone. We are having a black and white with chilli splash back and timber floors. Re: Flooring colour for black and white kitchen 4Nov 16, 2009 8:49 pm all the sand - We are looking at using a similar tile in our place. Have a look at A Italia Ceramics 55 Glynburn Rd, Glynde SA 5070 - (08) 8336 2366 The floor tiles in there beat Beaumonts hands down, and they are about the same pricing Re: Flooring colour for black and white kitchen 5Nov 17, 2009 8:03 am all the sand Loooovvveee your kitchen and without a doubt i would be going with the tile. Do you have a lot of natural light coming in? I dont think it will look too dark because you have white cupboards and presumably whitish walls?? Re: Flooring colour for black and white kitchen 12Nov 17, 2009 1:24 pm We do get good natural lighting throughout the home which will help. Our walls are called kid leather. Here is an image i stole from erinleigh's thread (hope you don't mind erinleigh) who has kid leather walls. Looking at the tile again, I really dont think it will be too dark, but I would have been worried too at first. We are tossing up whether to go really light tiles with some darker bottom cupboards or a darker floor tile with a lighter kitchen. I forgot how many choices there where in building a house Re: Flooring colour for black and white kitchen 14Nov 17, 2009 4:36 pm No the wall colour and the amount of natural lighting you have coming into your house is the big factor here. The tiles will look great. You have ample lighting and light walls. In my option the tiles are very classy, go for it! Now for the red dots on the wall in the photo……took me a while to figure out what was going on there. Hope that got resolved for the owner. Once the walls are painted in the next few weeks i will get maybe 5 tiles and lay them around the house before making a final decision - definitely agree they look schmick & suit well. Me too. I think we must have very similar tastes as out kitchen colours, bathrooms and now floor tiles are all sounding very similar haha cant wait to see your house when its done. dvs_dk - Unfortunately i am in Adelaide although, with this weather i would much rather be in melbourne! Thankyou for your advice.
