Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 12, 2009 4:12 pm Ok, im thinking about my external colour scheme now... we have to let the builder know what colour roof in a month so need to try and decide on those asap. Im going to scan a picture of our front elevation tomorrow (forgot to bring the plans with me to work), but I have a few colour schemes in mind, just not sure in how they will look in real life. I dont think I want a surfmist roof as they seem to look dirty even if there are no overhanging trees... Then im not sure if a dune roof will look ok with light walls. So if anyone has any pictures or can point me to builders links where they know they have a dune roof with surfmist render, that would be fantastic Re: Dune roof with Surfmist (light) render 2Nov 12, 2009 7:20 pm I can show you a pic of a house painted with dune, with a dune roof if that helps... but the catch is youll have to tell me how to upload pics / create a link! I havent seen a dune roof with a lighter render as yes and im just wondering if there is a reason for that I have even been looking at realestate.com.au in my area but still no luck! We went with Dune roofing and guttering with limestone blocks. Such neutral colours but worked beautifully I think. Initially was turned off surfmist as some of the houses in the estate look "dirty" - even with no trees around. (Might have been the dust storms?) Flip side is the roof pitch is 10degrees so you wont really see the roof from the front elevation, just coming down the street. Gutters - Same as roof Fascia - Same as roof Bargeboards - Not sure what these are Downpipes - Probably surfmist Eaves - A plain white Windows - Aluminium look Doors - entry door will either be a timber pivot with clear glass inserts or an aluminium frame with full glass door. Deck -There is a timber deck at the rear Garage - http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac304/ms_builder/Garagedoor2.jpg Walls: I was thinking of doing dune double strength around the garage. Maybe top right wall in monument or another darkish grey (was thinking woodland but dont want to throw any greens off). For the window shade thing, probably plain white? For the rest im stuck. Maybe side walls in a white or surfmist if I do the roof in dune. There is vertical cladding between the lower roof line to the right bottom floor and the bottom right floor to consider. Top left floor probably white or surfmist if i do the roof dune. The the very right down the bottom, we have the side entry on an angle. Most of my choices hinge on the roof so thats why I was trying to decide on that first but im still no closer to a decision. We are getting sample pots of dune double strength and all the other colours i have mentioned this weekend, so if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. I was thinking beige royal somewhere in there but only because i like the colour, not sure if it goes with the look im trying to achieve lol. Michelle when I have more of an idea of what we have settled on, I suspect you will be getting an email I think what im picking may even look too busy but I dont want it to be plain. Sorry its so long everyone Re: Dune roof with Surfmist (light) render 13Nov 17, 2009 4:59 pm Bargeboards - Not sure what these are Bargeboards are the timber, but maybe in your case colorbond boards to the front of your elevation. You have 3 in your front elevation, 2 on the top and one on the lower level….at angles. Do you see them know? On the scanned copy of the plans you cant see the vertical lines, they appear on the bottom floor between the kind of squared off line and skillion roof???
