Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 01, 2009 9:58 pm Hi Michelle, We start on our house this week and I'm second guessing our external selections. I wanted/still want something like this: http://wbhomes.com.au/#/homes/displayhomes/cove but in my selection meeting the lady talked me into doing the gutters Jasper but now I'm not keen on making the gutter a feature by painting it a darker colour, it's only a gutter, lol but now I really like Jasper and wouldnt mind incorporting it in but not sure how. Here are our external selections: Roof: Surfmist Fascia: Surfmist Gutter: Jasper but thinking of having Surfmist Ridge caping: Surfmist Garage: Surfmist Front door: Surmist but thinking of having Dune -Full External door frame: Surfmist Eaves, ceiling and cornices: Dune - 1/4 strength Walls: Dune - Full Do you think there's too much Surfmist? I went onto the colorbond website and tried putting these colours into their visual thing and the house looked very grey, something I totally don't want. Do you think these colours will look grey or give me something similar to the house on the WB website? A few of the internal rooms will be painted Duck Egg blue and I'd love a duck egg blue front door but dh refuses not even sure if it would go with my chosen colour combo's anyway. What do you think??? Here are the drawings of the front of the house if this helps at all. The patio to the left won't be seen, it will be behind a fence, water tank will also be hind fencing. You do as you have, this will give you the look you want. You can always add colour with landscaping. In actual fact, Jasper JUST on the gutters will look wrong. I was ganged up against by the lady and dh, lol. I got my way in the end What are your thoughts on a Duck Egg Blue front door? I know I can add colour using landscape Re: Help with external selections, pretty please 4Nov 02, 2009 2:39 pm You know normally I would say ok to some colour, but I quite like the look of the whole monochromatic thing with the neutral colours. So this time I’m leaning on no colour for the door. But if you like the colour then go for it, it’s your house. I will get colour from the plants Re: Help with external selections, pretty please 6Nov 02, 2009 10:57 pm Surfmist is great - 100% already selected that for my roof, fascia and guttering. Has a R1 insulation factor too compared to dark colours Dune is great for hiding the dirt and it looks natural What about window frames? Front Door and Garage I think need to be the same - Did you discount timber look garage and front door? How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11916 Thanks Pulse, thats really helpful and very much appreciated. Also thanks for the pointer on sheathing, thats me watching too many american youtube videos! 6 2798 Before you rip it up, if you can in the grout lines, drill some holes and pour/inject techgrip by sika. I have used it to bond mdf to timber, but in the process it dripped… 1 4290 |
