I am hoping you can help me, I have a blue carpet and am wanting to paint the interior of my house. It is currently a light yellow colour which I am so over!! A friend of mine suggested Beige Royal Full Strength, I got some but think it is way to grey with the blue carpet. Could anyone suggest another colour they have used please. We have wooden furniture, the curtains are currently a cream colour. HELP!!! Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 2Oct 29, 2009 9:42 am Can't help till I get home later today. White goes with anything so I went neutral. I did have a pumpkin colour feature wall in the entry, which looked ok 9 years ago, but dated easily and my wife wanted it gone The house is currently for sale as I prepare to complete my new home. I would really like a beigey colour, I was looking at Buff it Full Strength but I think it has some pinky undertones. I am now thinking Hog Bristle Full Strength? I cant believe how hard it is to decide. Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 5Oct 29, 2009 1:39 pm I currently have a mid-deep blue carpet, and my walls are a dulux colour called Tinsel, which is a grey/blue colour - it's and old colour probably about 10 years old, but bunnings can still find it to tint paint. Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 8Oct 29, 2009 4:16 pm I think Hogs Bristle will look great. Its such an all round colour, pretty much goes with anything. Do you think I should use full strength and maybe half strength down the hall way as it does not get alot of sun. This is our kitchen, do you think the hogs breath would go well with it? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also is there any other colour you think I should consider, Im not to sure if the Hog Bristle is too yellowy, really wanted a Beigey. Your opionion would be wonderful And what colour should the skirting boards be? thanks in advance xo Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 10Oct 29, 2009 5:38 pm Loniaj….half down the hall is very sensible, as a matter of fact; it will look the same as full because it is not getting the light. If you do full it will be quite dark. No I don’t think I need to choose another colour, I had a look at the hog full when I came home, I’m happy with that. You could try pure white for all your trims, its such a nice look with hog. One of my girl friends thinks because I found Beige Royal full strength too dark I should only use Hogs Bristle half strength. Whats do you think? Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 12Oct 29, 2009 5:46 pm Beige Royal is about, 1 shade darker than the hog; I even discarded it when I looked at it. Truly it will be fine…..yes, now I have looked at the kitchen photo….still good! I would have considered full strength if we had more light , We used Antique White USA as our trim colour and I love that too! hope it all goes well with what you decide. Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 15Oct 29, 2009 8:19 pm Oh Thankyou for the feedback Belle, It is so hard to choose colours I have been agonising for weeks lol. I think I will use Full Strength, if Michelle thinks it will work well. Glad you are happy with yours, this site is wonderful!!!!! Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 16Oct 30, 2009 3:31 pm Ok so Michelle just to clarify, full strength through out and half up hallway? You dont think full strength will be too strong with the carpet? Im not sure if the colour is too yellowy???????????? Or maybe it looks Blue with my carpet? I am so confused!! Or should I go half strength? Help please, Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 17Oct 30, 2009 9:43 pm I wish I had a photo, but the carpet in my grandparents' holiday house on the Gold Coast was a gorgeous shimmery pale blue/almost grey...originally it was more blue, but over time the carpet faded in the sun and was more grey/silvery blue. Their walls were white but with features (well, it was a 60s house after all). The features perhaps clashed, but I loved the house. One wall was wooden panels and it just set off that cool blue/silver SO beautifully. I'm not suggesting you paint your house WOOD of course, lol, but I personally think, based on the photo of your lovely black kitty on the carpet there (it's a nice colour by the way. I much prefer lighter blue to darker blue carpet), that a very pale mushroom or cool beige would look beautiful...sort of like this perhaps... http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-g ... y/neutrals If you scroll down, see the Stowe White shade there? http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-g ... y/neutrals Or China White here? (scroll down) http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-g ... ery/browns Here I like Warm Neutral (very similar to hog) and Buff It. (and scroll) http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-g ... ery/browns Or the room on page 3/10 if you wanted a more cooler look overall (Sago is one of the shades I was considering for my ensuite, but it's quite pink/mauve-based, but your carpet's a cool colour so it'd match more easily than with warmer hues, although may not set it off or "pop" as much to the eye) http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-g ... ery/browns Or lastly, the colours in the room on page 2/10 (Out of Africa) with its darker feature wall, I think this would look quite stunning with your carpet... I don't know if hog would look too yellow. I know it is yellow based, BUT let me tell you this - when we were agonising over paint colours for our place (oh ok, when *I* was agonising. My partner was easy and let me decide everything, lol), I considered hogs bristle but thought it might clash as the carpet we had was a tad pinkish (something else I didn't really intend, but it still looks nice, just not my absolute ideal), and the hog was more yellow in its undertones, as you've pointed out. So we went with Portland Stone (half), which looks VERY nice, BUT....I find it a tad too pinkish and cool, and sort of want a more warm tone now...and hog is warmer... Actually, I just had a flash of what I'd want if I had your carpet. I'd want some kind of hogs bristle all over but with white trims to really set it off, OR a lighter beige/cream shade all over but with certain walls painted the slightly darker mushroom/hog/capuccino type colour... http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-g ... ery/browns Go to the room on page 9/10 - I know the blue in that hanging picture is darker than your carpet, but do you see how it sets off the darker brown shades around it? And those shades are yellow-brown based, like hog (darker than hog though) Also, I've now realised what I tend to feel happiest being surrounded by in terms of FEELINGS in colours...warm or cool? I now know I love warm shades...my place is pretty much all cool shades though, which is NICE but...it's not 100% what makes me feel at ease in a place. (basically though, you care a lot about this, so whatever you decided will look lovely. lol) How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 18Oct 31, 2009 4:30 am loniaj Ok so Michelle just to clarify, full strength through out and half up hallway? YES You dont think full strength will be too strong with the carpet? NO It will accentuate the carpet colour. Im not sure if the colour is too yellowy???????????? Theres NO yellow in it, I don't see yellow at all! Or maybe it looks Blue with my carpet? I am so confused!! Or should I go half strength? If half will help you feel more comfortable....then yes do half. Help please, Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 19Oct 31, 2009 3:28 pm Hi grace_slick , Wow you are a wealth of ideas. Thankyou so much, I am so over picking colours it is so hard. Anyway I decided to go with Michelles suggestion of Hogs Bristle, but I have done half strength at this stage I have only got 1 coat on 2 walls, still not sure if I like it but it'll do. I think it is hard when you go from a really light yellow, which is what we had to a darker colour, takes a while to get use to it. I think a bit more brown of a colour would have been nice but it seems impossible to find one, every colour I put on the wall looks yellow, grey or green lol. But I will see how I go and take some pics for you all when it is finished. Thank you all for your help. This is the best sight ever!!!! Re: Interior wall colour that goes with Blue carpet!! 20Oct 31, 2009 3:39 pm Yeah….we like it here. And I’ve just noticed in the last few days I gone over 15000 posts. So I must really like here.
