Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 13, 2009 5:06 pm I'm trying to design the fireplace in my new house but need some help. I am having a combution wood heater that the glass door slides up to turn it into an open fireplace. It will have a flue but will be incased in a chimney. I don't want a mantle or hearth. The chimney will be clad in 600 x 300mm tiles (better looking than my drawing). I was thinking about storing firewood in the side as shown in the last drawing. Anyone have any suggestions on how to polish this up a bit? I actually like it how it is, the fireplace is the feature, so let it be that. You will need a hearth though under the fires door. Let me think about it for a while. Thanks Michelle, Any further input greatly received. I'm unsure on the position and size of the wood storage. Higher, lower, smaller bigger etc I had a bit of inspiration from this pic. However where they store the wood the walls are thin. I was thinking of having the walls the thickness of a brick for appearances and ease of construction but that will obviously limit the amount of storage space. In this picture they take it up pretty high and it would be not practical to bet putting wood in and out up hear the ceiling. I wouldn't be against putting it there for appearances though. You could the real thing down either side of the fire. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 13732 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11590 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3344 |
