Does anyone have any tips for securely hanging a very big and very heavy artwork? I'm scared it would rip those plastic 3 M hooks off the wall. I'd estimate that it is about 1.8m by 1.2m and 10-12kgs Cheers Building a Jandson Espirit in Pennant Hills "What is the use of a home, if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?"Henry Daniel Thereau Re: Hanging a very big and heavy artwork 3Jun 25, 2007 11:55 am Ramset wall anchor might be a good choice used in conjunction with a utility hook. Available at bunnings. The weight ratings are display on the packet.

Re: Hanging a very big and heavy artwork 4Jun 25, 2007 12:41 pm Try to get the screws into the studs and you should always use 2 hooks as it spreads the load on the painting/artwork itself.
Ie 2 points of hanging on the frame wire does not stress the painting frame so much Steve Re: Hanging a very big and heavy artwork 6Jun 25, 2007 12:51 pm I agree with Steve…..and avoid those Ramset wall thingies….they make a whole in the wall as big as an elephant bullet!!!
They are shockers. Go to your local hardware, tell them the weight of the artwork, they will have wall brackets that will take the weight. As Steve said….use to points to hang, this provides evenly distributed weight, the safest way! I'm not too concernced about putting a hook in the wall, it will be my house after all! Two hooks sounds like a good compromise, I'll find where the studs are and pay a visit to the local hardware. Picture rails are nice but I'm not sure they are worth it just for one painting.
