Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 05, 2009 4:29 pm Hi Everyone, So we have decided to use the Tawny Heritage brick and dune for everything else - the mouldings, the windows, the garage, the gutter, fascia, downpipes. The render would also be dune, but I was thinking of a black front door. This is the display house - our house will not have the mouldings around the roof line and side of the house, and the feature colour is not dune. Re: Selections done but is ONE external feature colour boring? 2Oct 05, 2009 5:19 pm well that is a very formal style house and one external colour will look classic and stylish rather than boring, I think. A black front door might look a bit funny with everything else much lighter, tho. It's easy to add really colourful plants to add interest Re: Selections done but is ONE external feature colour boring? 3Oct 05, 2009 6:10 pm Haha, yes your are right englyn - it is a formal looking house, so I also think one colour would be more classic looking. Ours wont be so formal looking as we aren't having all the render/mouldings around the roof line and side of the house. You are also right in that the black door would look funny. I suppose I could just do it dune Maybe I should consider making the front door and garage door the same colour - but I don't know what. Any suggestions? I don't like the idea of the front door just blending into the portico. Re: Selections done but is ONE external feature colour boring? 4Oct 05, 2009 9:36 pm What's the bit right next to the garage door? I can't tell if it's the bricks or something else? Does Ironstone go with your bricks? if so you could have your garage door and front door in that. Or try to pick a paint colour that matches the brick for the front door. I’m actually wondering why it is that everyone is looking for a WOW factor, when most of the time their house itself is the WOW, and no more is needed. I’m having a hard time trying to get that message through to some of my clients. We have decided to leave the facade in as it is (all dune) and paint the front door dune as well. I think it's more timeless and classic, and suits the look we are going for. Lucky for us we like the colour dune! Re: Selections done but is ONE external feature colour boring? 8Oct 11, 2009 8:28 pm That facade looks classy and upmarket. It will never date. Sometimes I wish we went for a facade like that..look at my photos thread..I have a feeling our facade will date really quickly...
