Re: paint or stain? 2Oct 06, 2009 7:36 pm Lt Warren…love the Caoba colour in the doors, I’m going to get one of those myself. I don’t have a current cabots colour chart…I moved house and had a big cull! I suggest you go and get one, and next time I’m at the hardware shop I’ll pick one up. But I’m not sure when that will be. I’m studying at the moment. But will try in the next few days for you. Check out their site….look under - brochures - timbercolour - Autumn Leaves – Pinjarra BR looks good. http://www.cabots.com.au/info/colour_cards.asp Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: paint or stain? 3Oct 06, 2009 10:24 pm I was told Jarrah is the match for it by our colour consultant. I like Jarrah anyway but I do hope it is at least close now 0.o We're getting our entry door stained (Made from Merbau) Jarrah and our timber bi-folds jarrah, we also plan to get timber plantation shutters for the sidelight to the front door and stain them jarrah as well. Re: paint or stain? 4Nov 07, 2009 10:02 pm you have to combine stains to get the colour right for those garage doors you cant just pick a specific one, with the B&D door your speaking of I use Intergrain Naturalstain - water based stain/varnish combination. (has quote good results but apply it well its a semi transperant stain so it will show lap marks, fairly easy to use though) Comes in an assortment of colours, for the timbertone garage doors I buy a can of ceder/cypress - this colour is a ceder natural look about it like a ceder colour. then I buy a can of merbau , which in the naturalstain colour is quite dark almost blackish Add some of the merbau colour with the ceder a 50/50 mix, apply one coat, that coat will be lighter probably depending on the timber your front doors made out of but you need to keep in mind that when you apply the seond coat it will deepen, if it really needs to go deeper ad more of the merbau to the ceder/merbau mix like 30/70 etc basically your adding black till you get the right amount, useing that natural stain it takes upto five coats before the door will start to look over painted aswell so your safe to advance easily. If its dark enough after the first coat and you dont want to go darker finish it of useing the ceder/cypress colour. I have pictures of exact matchs so close ud think I actually painted the garage door to but the picture upload thing keeps saying quota reached Re: paint or stain? 5Nov 08, 2009 7:14 am Swarvy try upload your pictures to imageshack.us then link them back here. Using the natural stain being semi transperant we where able to make all match perfectly while have distinctly different origanal timber colours. Hi, planning on using the attached stone pieces in my bathroom. I want to remove stains and gloss seal. Can I get some advice on best way to remove stains and best… 0 6842 The most definitive answer to your question James is this taken from the James Hardie Axon Cladding Installation Guide - i just happen to have it… 5 3797 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7355 |
