Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 03, 2009 8:20 pm Hi there Michelle & everyone I am wanting to update my bedroom as it hasn't really had an update in about 4-5years - at the moment blue is the main colour. I am on a budget and can't change any furniture, but can change linen, wall colour, curtains, bedside lights etc. The room is a very light & sunny room so we like curtains for the block out light factor in summer especially. Currently here is what I have: Ceiling /Cornice - White Walls - Cream colour (Taubmans Alabaster I think the name is) Skirting / Architrave - 1/4?? strength Alabaster gloss Windows / Reveals / Frames - Windows Aluminium Grey, 1/4? Alabaster gloss around edge Exposed Beams - Nil Doors - Alabaster 1/2 strength or 1/4 strength Window Treatments - Pelmet & curtains (blue) with off white venetians (wood look) Flooring - Gross carpet in a very very light beige (will replace one day as its disgusting) Lighting - Down lights & bedside lights (will need to change bedsides) Furniture - Darkish Stained wood Some pics may help: (please excuse my piled washing as it rained today!!) Its Vue Taylor Stripe (on sale at Myer at the moment). It says it is a Taupe colour, but to me in laymans terms it is a light beige and brown stripe. http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/mancheste ... lor+stripe I am also getting a large picture (our wedding one) to hang above the bed in black & white with black frame & white mat - its about the same size as the daggy one there already. I would appreciate any advice regarding what colours would look good with the doona cover & do you think a feature wall would look good? I was thinking of introducing another colour like a green colour for feature wall & accessories - cushions, shades etc (like the green colour Michelle has done her dining room feature wall in the new house) but am not confident with these sorts of things. Oh I like browns, greens, reds, blues (want a change tho from blue), any colour really - classic kind of style like a motel room look - not too out there (probably a bit boring really) but am open to all suggestions Thanks for looking. Re: Help & advice with colour reno of my bedroom *pics* 3Oct 03, 2009 9:28 pm Hi Sorry, keeping the venetian blinds (like them for privacy as bedroom faces street & were custom made), but will change the curtains & recover the pelmet. Best wishes Rachael www.crittercottage.blogspot.com Re: Help & advice with colour reno of my bedroom *pics* 4Oct 04, 2009 2:58 pm I was thinking maybe all dusty pastels, like seagreen, slate grey, dusty pale blue with the cream & timers. Check out http://www.aurahome.com.au they have some nice looks with the colour of your walls & quilt cover set. Also check out www.lightsandlamps.com.au they have really good quality lamps & heaps to choose from. "A dream you dream alone is only a dream. I went into a manchester shop today and there was a very helpful girl who suggested some colours. We picked some Euro pillow cases in light cream, brown & black pattern (her suggestion). Then put a plain cream cushion & a smaller black cushion as a feature and wow, it looked really fantastic together with the brown (I never would have tried that in a million years) - I was really impressed. It will all go very well with my wedding photo which is black framed & also I wont need to repaint the whole room - just the feature wall. I still need to get a small back cushion (as the one they had was very sequiney so not suited) & would like to get a black throw for the end of the bed too. I will also need curtains/pelmet to be done. Will take a pic when it is all on the bed and ask some advice re the feature wall & curtain colour.
