Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 29, 2009 5:27 pm Looking for queen sized bedroom furniture for a minor bedroom. Still unsure about a colour scheme..but have narrowed furniture down to either white or chocolate. Will add colour by quiltcovers/cushions/throws. Most likely wont paint feature walls, just leave walls in normal white/beige. Looking to buy 2 bedside tables and a queen bed. Will not buy a tallboy, but a 8cube shelving unit from Officeworks. Really like this one.. http://www.bedshed.com.au/productDetail ... tStartAt=3 . Bed is $549, tables are $349 each. Heres the question.. to lower costs, is it ok to mix and match the bedroom furniture? Look at the feet of the bed..theyre in chocolate. Im trying to steer away from chocolate cos its so overused everywhere and theres plenty of choc in the house. BUT, I cant resist! LOL! Is it ok to have the white bed and chocolate bedside tables? lll just buy cheaper tables, in choc. Or should it all be white?? Sorry for long post, thanks!! Re: Bedroom furniture advice 2Sep 29, 2009 5:34 pm That bed is very similar to my double beds in my "other" bedrooms, I have chrome legs on mine. I have used funky little white bedside tables, I personally wouldn't put brown tables with it, but that's just me S&PMKII I love all the white with my brown carpet. Re: Bedroom furniture advice 3Sep 29, 2009 5:45 pm Thanks for your reply SuH!! Hmm..perhaps there would be way too much contrast..ie. white with choc. Re: Bedroom furniture advice 4Sep 29, 2009 6:02 pm I have a chocolate bed in the spare room with a white bedside table, the linen is white and then lamp is balck and metalic and the cushions are a blend of metalic/white and black on the bed. The guests love the room. So i think that it is a great idea Building again . . with Redink Pre-start 04/12 Keys - 03/13 Finishing off. . . There are no hard and fast rules and its about what feels right for you. You can make most anything work these days by combining your accessories, paint and bedlinen. As long as you have conviction in what you decide and have a clear image in your mind about how you will tye everything in together. I love dressing bedrooms there are lots of ways to make anything work...one idea I have used...... you could use table runners at the end of beds if you can't afford a full throw rug or coverlet which can add costs if you don't have the dollars to outlay.... Good luck.... Re: Bedroom furniture advice 7Sep 30, 2009 10:12 pm Thanks for your replies guys. gweluphome, your blog was very helpful. Thanks for that. Re: Bedroom furniture advice 8Oct 02, 2009 4:10 pm The legs on the bed look like they are chocolate to me so I think chocolate bedsides would be fine. Maybe to save money though, buy an ensemble base & order an upholstered bed head instead. You could even make one yourself. Then you could match with which ever bedsides you want. And instead of using a frilly or pleated valance you can now get bedwraps which make your ensemble base look like it's upholstered too! "A dream you dream alone is only a dream.
