Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 25, 2009 10:32 pm Hi everyone,
We really need some urgent help as we need to finalise our exterior colours by early next week. We are having difficulty in knowing what colours go where and even if the colours work together I just can't imagine how it would look so any advice you could provide would be very helpful. What we have so far: Bricks: Selkirks Tawny Heritage Roof: Magnum Spouting: Monument Fascia: Dune or Monument? Windows: Dune Unitex mouldings: Dune Garage: Dune Front Door: ?? Portico Render: ?? The questions I have are: 1. Does the dune colour go with the tawny heritage brick or should I should a colour more like paperbark, or jasper? what colour would you suggest other than dune? 2. Do I match the grarage door to the unitex moulding colour? The mouldings are around the windows and the garage door. 3. Do I make the portico render dune as well, or do I go for something else? Maybe a similar colour but darker? 4. What colour do I paint the front door? I was thinking maybe black to match the magnum roof and monument spouting, would that work? Or if the render is darker, do I match the door to that? or do I paint it dune? 5. Do I have the spouting and fascia the same colour, or the spouting monument and the fascia dune? I have attached some photos. I think a general rule of thumb, something thats hard to go wrong with, is to have your roof and guttering the same color, and then fascia, windows, garage door another color. But really, it's a personal choice. So, for example, I would go with Bricks: Selkirks Tawny Heritage Roof: Magnum (Monument) Spouting: Monument (Monument) Fascia: Dune or Monument? (Dune or Paperbark) Windows: Dune (Dune or Paperbark) Unitex mouldings: Dune (what are the moldings you are talking about?) Garage: Dune (Dune or Paperbark) Front Door: (Dune or Paperbark) Portico Render: ?? (Dune or Paperbark) It's just an idea anyway. With the render, you might want to go something entirely different, some people on the forums have done some very radical and quite striking things! I'm sure I've seen a lovely Red front door on someones post and a beautiful purplish or royal blue of some sort on someones render. It's what YOU like that truely counts! Re: Help with finalising our exterior colours, please. 3Sep 28, 2009 10:57 am Thanks D&SG! Your response was very helpful. The unitex mouldings are what go around the outside of the windows and garage, kinda looks like rending around the windows. I am thinking that these should match the window frame and garage door colour, I am just confused about what colour that should be! Do you think Dune works with the Tawny Heritage brick or should I opt for a colour that is more creamy or brown opposed to grey?
