Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 24, 2009 9:47 am Hi All, Well i've made a mistake with my colour selection. The look we are after is a clean white to accentuate our spotted gum floorboards. After testing various shades of white with the following sample pots: - Lexicon 1/4 - Pepulum - Whisper White - White on White We decided to go with White on White. However after completing the bedroom - we're disappointed with the outcome - there is a distinct blue/grey tinge to the colour especially under artifical lighting. Can anyone recommend a true bright white? Would it be "Vivid White"? Or is it purely the white that comes in the tin untinted, straight off the shelf? Re: White on White - is blue/grey - What is pure white? 2Sep 24, 2009 9:52 am Could it actually be the type of lighting that you are using that gives off the hue? Re: White on White - is blue/grey - What is pure white? 3Sep 24, 2009 10:05 am Good Point - it is more pronounced under lighting - i've got standard bulbs in place which will change to tracklights... however even with sunlight the blue is the first colour that comes to mind.....as opposed to the feel of Clean white. Re: White on White - is blue/grey - What is pure white? 4Sep 24, 2009 10:11 am I have a Taubmans colour confidence book and they do say that its best to use a warmer white if you are matching up with timber floors. It also says that it is good to use the warmer colours with little or no direct sunlight. I don't think that there is such a thing as a true bright white it all depends on everything in the room like the sunlight and the flooring and the accessories that you use. I think it might be a good idea to get some sample pots... Sorry I couldn't be more help. Re: White on White - is blue/grey - What is pure white? 5Sep 24, 2009 10:21 am A true white, as to what everyone knows, is just plain white. No tints no shades…..WHITE. Like your ceiling white, pure white. I get so annoyed with the paint companies calling paints “white” when they are far from white!!!
