Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 22, 2009 12:37 pm I have a polished timber floor in my bedroom and recently purchased a bed that rests on swivel castors. Does anyone know where I can purchase castors that have a brake on them? I've contacted manufacturers without success. The existing castors have an overall height of 150mm and have a central single screw. Re: locking castors to stop bed sliding on floor 2Sep 22, 2009 12:45 pm in our previous house we purchased plastic disc - they are sauced shaped and made for the purpose. Can't remember where we got them from, probably Bunnings, and would have been much cheaper than getting new castor wheels Re: locking castors to stop bed sliding on floor 3Sep 22, 2009 3:12 pm My DH made a change table for our little girl when she was born 3 years ago and he put lockable castors on the legs so I could move it around. He just bought them from Bunnings in SE Melbourne - have you tried hardware stores at all? Good luck! Ash. I’m so glad someone beat me to it…………. I like the suggestion for the discs...bunnings didn't know about them (hard to get someone clued-up in that store!) ASH...I've just gotta stop the bed bouncing off the walls, it's putting big holes in them..hehe Re: locking castors to stop bed sliding on floor 10Sep 23, 2009 1:25 pm You can buy these cups at alot of hardware stores and furniture stores. - I am sure Bunnings have them. They are working a dream for our spare bed and dining table. Re: locking castors to stop bed sliding on floor 14Sep 24, 2009 4:55 pm Dahlsen's is in Victoria, I'm not sure of anywhere else. They bought out a lot of Home Hardware stores as far as I know. Re: locking castors to stop bed sliding on floor 15Sep 26, 2009 12:52 pm This worked a treat in a motel room in Marla!! On ensembles now you can replace your existing castor wheels with glides. They stop your bed from sliding around but still allows them to glide IF you need to move them. Just take your castor to a bedding shop that makes your bed brand & ask if you can get them in for you. Looks so much nicer than the cups. "A dream you dream alone is only a dream.
