Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 20, 2009 1:09 pm Hello Michelle and everyone else out there, I'm trying to choose external colours and it's really doing my head in. I don't know where to start, and was hoping you could help give me a starting point or a kick in the right direction. This is our facade. The whole front of the house will be rendered. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I wanted to go for a white/grey theme, but I'm open to suggestions. These are the selections I have been considering... Externals Brick - probably Austral cream rustic or telfer Roof - colorbond - Surfmist or Shale Grey Main Render - Taubmans - a white or light grey - maybe surfmist or roman stone Portico Render - Taubmans - a darker grey - maybe Wombeyan Garage Door - Not sure about this one? We know we don't like bright white or timber garage doors. Front Door - We have chosen the Infinity INFWS 6G pivot door from Corinthian. Do you think a timber door would look okay with an otherwise grey/white theme? Otherwise we would paint it. Window frames - White or grey Gutters - not sure Fascia - not sure The builder has given me a Taubmans exterior and interior colour chart, but I can't find the colours anywhere online to post them sorry. Sorry, I know this is lots of information and questions. Any suggestions would be great. ****EDIT**** Ok we've been busy! We tested some paint colours today and here are some pics. I've got 3 more colours to try out tomorrow but so far I am thinking: Main Render: Roman Stone Portico: Miss Molly Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thoughts/opinions? Do they match okay? Any suggestions for garage and colorbond roof colour that would suit? The Taubmans colours I will have a hard time finding….I always do, they spread their colours out all over the place, it’s a nightmare! Once I get my party sorted I’ll try and help you. You can’t narrow down your colours a bit more can you? It will take a while trying to get through them all. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Another person who needs help with external colours! 4Sep 22, 2009 7:39 pm Hi Michelle, No problem, whenever you are free to have a look thats fine - prestart isn't for about 3 weeks I don't think. I know I haven't made things very clear and left it all open ended - I think I'm having trouble with the colours because I'm looking at such small samples and can't even work out if they are brown/grey etc. I will go to bunnings this weekend and have a proper look and try narrow things down a bit. Thank you and have fun organising your party! EDITED 14Sep 28, 2009 6:31 pm Thanks so much Michelle Do you think doing Roman stone as the main render, and miss molly as the portico will give a similar look, but a bit more grey? With dune garage door and roof? When on the roof, does colorbond dune look more grey or brown? EDITED 18Oct 10, 2009 9:43 am Hi Michelle, Another question sorry! Don't think we are totally sold on the roman stone and miss molly - when I put it all together with dune it doesn't seem to really match :/ Just wondering if you have time if you can tell me what taubmans paint colours would be closest to the look of the house above? I think I like the more creamy/browny look rather than the greys I had in my mind. prestart is on Monday and external colours are still the thing bothering us! Definates: Roof: Surfmist Door: Timber (pivot door) Will dune garage look okay with surfmist roof? Or.. any other suggestions? We don't like the white garage doors (picky aren't we!) At this stage we are still looking at going roman stone and miss molly render, purely because we have no idea what else to do. Do you think this will look okay with surfmist roof? Prestart is tomorrow and external colours are the only thing stressing me out! If anyone has any thoughts/advice it would be great! I really like the colours used here but in that pic, I'm seeing grays but the samples are more beiges - is it just a trick of the light? I think I'll need to start up my own thread at some point. Edit: Come to think of it, might be just a trick of my monitor. The Dulux colour consultants are awesome.
