The time to choose my flooring is expiring as my house is rapidly getting built. The carpets are being installed in <1 month and I need a floor for the hall, family, dining, kitchen and lounge. My exisiting colours are various shades of grey. Carpets and tiles are dark and the cabinets are a light silvery colour with osprey ceaserstone (white) benchtops. I'm thinking of getting a laminate floor, but I don't want it to clash. I've looked at everything from beech, apple, whitewashed oak, dark stained oak and american ash (and everything in between and I'm overwhelmed. I didn't consider the difficulties in matching greys to wood at my colour selection. Any tips on colours? Thanks! Blackbutt is less red and it has more golden tones - it would look fab also. Dont get stressed about the timber. So many varieties will look nice. It is the contrast which will make your home interesting. I looked at the Boral laminate timber on their web site and all of them would be fine except perhaps for the Jarrah which may be too red. Im with Michelle i am yet to see timber flooring of any king that looks to be the "wrong" colour for whats in the rest of the house.
