Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 06, 2009 1:03 pm wishing to paint inside same colours throughout but don't know whether to chose 1/2 strength hogsbristle or 1/4 strength hogsbristle on walls with trims/architraves in Antique USA white.... want the walls to be a basic colour then I can add various colours with furnishings etc Re: hogsbristle 1/2 or 1/4 strength 4Sep 06, 2009 6:21 pm I have 100% HB on walls with 1/4 as trim. Looks fabulous. Have mixed in self-destruct (study), with sea elephant ( dark brown) and purple empire (aubergine) on a few feature walls. Your colour combination will be great and leaves you many choices for your other colours - it all comes down to your preference . I have pinks, browns, and greens with a touch of aubergine in my furnishings. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. IN fact ¼ does not resemble Hog Bristle‘s colour at all. I’m not a fan of taking a colour, then taking it back so much that is not the original colour. No point having it really. At the very least, I would look at Hog ½, then the Antique, this way there is at least a good contrast in the 2 colours. But I wanted a really light colour and it does fit the bill - it's an alabaster sort of colour, like a warm off white really. Goes sensationally with my alabaster kitchen cupboards!!! Re: hogsbristle 1/2 or 1/4 strength 10Sep 07, 2009 9:44 am We had Fair Bianca on our woodwork, it looked really nice. (But that was with Hog Bristle 1/4, not sure how much darker 1/2 is). Re: hogsbristle 1/2 or 1/4 strength 11Sep 07, 2009 6:49 pm We've got 1/2 strength hog bristle on the walls throughout the house with Antique White as the trim. Antique White isn't the most exciting colour but it was the only white that my husband and I could agree on. Apparently when it comes to whites we have verrrry different ideas! My husband and I couldn't agree on a shade of white either. In the end we chose just good old fashioned 'white'. Can't see how you can go wrong with that.
