Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 23, 2009 2:21 am Hi Everyone Just wondering if anyone can help me. Looking to get a interior decorator to do our house. After waiting nearly 4 years we get to move into our property we have rented out on jan 1. Yahoo! Its 3 stories but has a bad floor plan and doing major renos on it. So i am thinking need to get help picking colours etc. I am useless at doing this type of thing. I know the look i want. Modern minimal. Would love to have that wow factor. What type of cost am i looking at per hr. Do decorators only deal in really expensive bits that make the house look great. They basically would have a blank canvas to work with as we are renovating. Would have to work around our black leather modular lounge as we only just bought it. And i would really love to have a white kitchen. There is a lovely white Q stone colour that has tiny dots. Not like the toilet walls that some have yuk. And polytec white doors. And solid timber flooring. Not light. Not dark. Window treatments. Have no idea as we have beautiiful ocean and inland views so wouldnt be closed that often. Dining table that is modern. Where from? Found one the other day which looked great but at 7K hubbie would kill me, even if we did have that type of money to waste on a table and chairs. Bedrooms. We have that nice choclate furniture for our room. Other rooms dont really have thoughts. 18yr old son wants black. He is dreaming. Although he is on bottom floor and will have his own ensuite so he is thrilled with that. Study. just think one of those glass tables with black executive chairs. And i have some black and white pics to go on the walls. Does anyone else know what i mean when they just know how to put it together. eg Vase with flowers on dining table in middle. In display homes it looks great. I try the same thing and it just looks wrong. Mangled mess lol Thanks Caz Re: Interior Decorator 2Aug 23, 2009 7:03 am A qualified and GOOD decorator will cost you anywhere from $70 to $90 an hour. You are looking at quite a hefty bill for your decorator, unless you are prepared to do all the leg work with her. By this I mean, she tells you what she wants and from where, and you go get it. The more time a decorator spends on your project, the more it costs you. You might be lucky to find one that does the whole package for a certain price, I don’t do this, after 14 years in business, I know that the quoted time will always blow out, and I’m stuck short paid. BUT, apparently some do this. The best way to find one is to start asking around to see who has used one and what they thought of her….or him. Word of mouth is always the best. Then ring her, and talk to her a bit on the phone, if you gel with her, then she’s the one for you. Good luck, we aren’t that scary, you just need to find the right one for you Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me.
