We had a chat and spoke to a very helpful guy at Dulux and we decide to go with colours we originally liked when we first started looking at show homes. I think I was worrying about what was popular to what I actually liked So, We have always loved the greeny/greys/browns. Roof: Caper Guttering/Facia: Woodland Grey Render: Linseed 1/4 Portico: Linseed Full Downpipes: Linseed 1/4 Doors: maybe Woodland Grey - open to suggestions on this Window: Still like the idea of white What do you think. Personally, I love the linseed think it will work well with the Caper. Re: What exterior colours look good with a Monier Caper roof? 23Aug 30, 2009 10:29 am ok, so here's dulux linseed full strength (which is too brown on my moniter - much greyer in real life) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ caper roof tiles Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and woodland grey Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ i think this will work well, white windows will be fine, and woodland grey for guttering and fascia is right maybe just check about the linseed 1/4 as i don't know if it's a specified "colour" as such and there's a clause in the colour booklet about only using 1/4 or 1/2 colours that are part of duluxs listings and i can only find full linseed on the colour booklet i also think that in full light (as we are using this for an exterior render) the 1/4 linseed may be too washed out - full colours look completely different in the outside light and the full linseed may work better? what did the dulux person say? i would also still make a feature of the front door - either by staining it, or choosing a bright colour? or maybe even white to tie in with the windows? 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: What exterior colours look good with a Monier Caper roof? 24Aug 30, 2009 8:43 pm Thanks Jess, When we went to Dulux the guy suggested 1/4 or half strength for the render Linseed. Anyhow, we have brought all 3 sample pots and have painted them all on some wood so we will decide later. I may add pics later. Just checked the list that Coral gave us and what they said was, "If specifying a standard 1/2 and 1/4 strength Dulux/Hadrian paint, please advise your Finishes Rep. of this detail and ensure that your request for 1/12 or 1/4 strength pain is noted clearly, and written in full on your Builders Record of Finishes". It also say, " due to the problems associated with colour matching and touch ups, only full strength colours are able to be selected with the exception where paint codes have been nominated in which case 1/2 and 1/4 strength paints are allowed". Do Coral charge u extra for staining the front door? Re: What exterior colours look good with a Monier Caper roof? 25Aug 30, 2009 8:54 pm cool about the 1/2 strength paints just wasn't sure what the rules were i got charged $114.00 extra to stain the front door, but mine is a 1200 wide Hume XS24...is your door standard size? 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: What exterior colours look good with a Monier Caper roof? 26Aug 31, 2009 9:37 pm Thanks Jess, Well we did the paint testers (yes all three) and the 1/4 is too light. We are now deciding on the 1/2 strength or the full strength. Now the portico, my husband want to match up with a woodland grey type of coloured render but I'm not so sure as I think it may be too much. Not sure about the white front door and I don't think the original red would match now. Re: What exterior colours look good with a Monier Caper roof? 27Aug 31, 2009 11:07 pm hey ozzy, great idea to do the sample pots let us know what you end up with...maybe stain for the front door then? woodland grey should look fine for the portico - it might tie everything together and give your portico some "oomph" 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Our house was completed 8 years ago.
