But I think I know what your answer will be Can I get away with 2 of these side tables (cherry colour) in my lounge, where the lamps are ? If you could see it, what about staining the feet, should only be a quick job. p.s. love the tables. Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 3Aug 12, 2009 5:53 pm The tables are very nice!! First of all I wouldnt put the lamps/tables where you have them now. I would put the two tables/lamps on either side of the big couch (left hand side). All the display homes Ive seen have it this way, it looks odd to have the lamps as a sot of uneven entry decoration? Not so sure if the tables would suit the room, but why not test it out?? Test it and take a pic?? Are those your tables or from ebay/shops?? Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! Everything does not have to match exactly; having various hues/shades that go together can add depth. Look at the tables again, they have a dark line around the legs, will that not draw in the pieces of furniture together? Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 6Aug 12, 2009 8:10 pm justcamping.......I don't really want to change the colour of the sofa's feet - too much work & I don't thinkg that the new colour would go with the fabric . Thanks for your 2c worth though Salt&Pepper, the tables are currently on ebay. I've been waiting for something in that style to come up but methinks the colour doesn't suit Oh... so CarolineJ you feel that the lamps are in the wrong place also ? Mmmm, will have to try that arrangement. Must admit, it doesn't grab me, but I'll give it a go. 4 walls, yes I thought of that as well, but thought that the cherry was still overpowering the black detail Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 7Aug 13, 2009 7:08 am I’m more concerned about the cherry with the glass top coffee table. Ok....so now there's a new element to this dilemma . Tell me more Mish. Are yo saying that timber side tables in general, wouldn't work ? I really, really don't want more glass tables in this room. It's hard enough protecting this one from some careless family members Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 9Aug 13, 2009 10:14 am Southies… I think the side tables are fine…on their own. I think the coffee table is nice also…..on its own. If the side tables are all you have to work with at this moment, like the rest of us when we are doing something new, then use them! Here’s my take on your lovely room. I would use the side tables, the legs of the lounges is not a biggy here. The tables pretty much suite the style of your furniture. Down the track when you can, I would replace the glass coffee table with a long slender ottoman, in a colour to complement your lounges….black would be nice. Don’t forget to have Soilsheild put onto the ottoman. Getting rid of the glass table will be a problem .......it'll be with us for a very long time unless I 'accidentally' drop something on it & break it Better forget the side tables then, if I'm going to be stuck with the glass table? That doesn't sound promising See..... I knew they weren't a perfect match, if you're saying that they're "not that bad" Mish Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 13Aug 13, 2009 11:27 am Yep, I would definitely put the lamps on the other side of each couch. I think they will look nice in front of each window, and will actually be seen better- and they are very nice to show off. I think if you do that, the tables will hardly be seen, and it makes the lamps the feature. Then it doesn't matter if they do or don't go so well with the glass table. Regardless of which lamp tables you get, I still think they will look better near the window, but what does Michelle think of the lamp placement? Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 14Aug 13, 2009 12:43 pm Michelle agrees with your lamp placement. Over near the windows will be the darkest position in the room, (at night!) considering light will be coming through the opening of the 2 rooms. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 15Aug 13, 2009 2:01 pm Well, it seems the opinion of forum members, is that the lamps should go near the windows Little did I think I'd get placement advice when I started this thread.......but hey, it all helps . I obviously need to learn a thing or two about these kinds of things . So for all of you who like the lamp-near-window option, these are the pics I took eons ago, of the 2 display home lounges & guess what , they've also got the lamps near the windows : Goes to show I don't pay attention to my own saved info Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Still unsure about the colour of the cherry side tables, though............. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 16Aug 13, 2009 3:34 pm My 2c worth... I like the tables, I like the colour... but as Michelle said, they dont go with the glass table. I really like the glass table though, so Im thinking leave it and look for different side tables. Id also go for something a lot darker, maybe even black? It will compliment the dark legs on the coffee table and couches and also the pattern on the couch. ...And for the record, I vote for the lamps on the window side too Building 'The Kingston' (with 'Boston' elevation) through Blueprint Homes in Hocking, Perth **PCI complete 06.02.10** My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17607 Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 17Aug 13, 2009 3:46 pm ok !!! so I've decided - finally : 1. no cherry side tables - I'll wait for something in the same colour vein & simpler lines 2. lamps to be moved ot the windows .........and all this for just one room THanks Mish once again & to my fellow forum members Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Side Tables....cherry OK or not ?? 18Aug 13, 2009 3:47 pm If you could get some similar but not so expensive glass lamp tables ( I know you said you didn't want any more glass but wait...), then you could sit the lamps next to the windows on the small glass tables. You would not really see too much of the tables as they are on the far side of the couch, plus they are GLASS so not so noticable anyway.
