Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 18, 2009 2:37 pm Mish, I've just found the most gorgeous sample of light filtering fabric for our d/stairs roller blinds! I adore the swirls. I would love it for our casual living areas. The swirls are white &: the background is an open weave. BUT !! our living area windows are big: 4 mtr wide stacker, 3 metre wide sliding doors + windows What do you think : would the pattern be too much to have on such big expanses of glass ?? Could I possibly get away with it ? Can we see a big picture of the doors/window you are thinking of covering with it? are you having blockout fabric as well? Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 5Jul 18, 2009 5:43 pm It’s very nice southies!!! I don’t see a problem with it, the pattern and colour is very light. OMG, I'm so mortified at the mess we're living in . No clothes line so washing gets hung inside and that's just the tiny line, dryer just delivered, trailer on the alfresco so it doesn't get stolen (full of our junk) , etc..etc.. But because I need to make my decision by tomorrow night, I'm prepared to be mortified on the net Oh well............ These are the windows that need covering & then a set of stackers (next picture) that are around the corner in the kitchen : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ stackers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also, directly opposite the dining room (open plan living sucks) is our lounge room. It is more formal. 1. Can I get away with that sample on these 2 windows as well ? 2. If not, can I have the swirl fabric in the dining room opposite & something different in this lounge ? Would it be too busy having 2 different fabrics in the 2 rooms as they are only divided by the hall? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 8Jul 18, 2009 6:19 pm OK now I'm totally confused. I thought the swirl would be too casual/whimsical for the lounge room & more suited to the casual areas Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 9Jul 18, 2009 6:34 pm I think it’s quite classy! I can see it in the lounge room with your furniture. The plain blinds in your other room look really nice & you have a lot of windows there, it may look a bit much with the pattern. Oh I shouldn't have answered this I can't decide on ours!!!!! What help am I to anyone else????? Is that one of the samples from Glen? I think that I saw that one it's lovely. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 11Jul 18, 2009 6:41 pm Thanks danma......yes it's from Glen's books. As soon as I saw it, I went WOW!!! OK Mish, so you are saying that it would be too much on all the living room windows INCLUDING the lounge room ? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 12Jul 18, 2009 6:43 pm OMG Southies I love the sample, (are we allowd to know where you got it from?) . I think that maybe you could use the print as a feature blind. Maybe just on the stackers, or just on the 2 windows at the end of the dining table? and go with plain for the rest. Do they really need to be all the same, or perhaps you prefer that? I personally adore that pattern. GO FOR IT. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 13Jul 18, 2009 6:46 pm Ok…..I like it. But I think I would rather see it in the lounge room with the type of furniture you have in there. It will still look good everywhere else, but by using it everywhere takes the special look away from the lounge room that it will give. That’s why I said plain everywhere else, but up to you southies, I love your lounge room, and it deserves that little something special. Originally, I thought my lounge would be at the front of the house, far away from casual living. Then we found this house as it suited our narrow block. So my traditional furniture layout went out the window but not the furniture So NOW I'm stuck with my lovely lounge room opposite our country ( read yuk) dining table. The 2 room styles s are just so different & right next to each other. Wouldn't the swirl pattern only in the lounge, accentuate the differences? Are you keeping the country look for ever? Ok……maybe just put it everywhere that solves that problem. It’s a nice light pattern and colour, it will look fine throughout. I'll sleep on it tonight & see how I feel in the morning.......I'll have it sorted by tomorrow night. Thanks, as usual Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Translucent Blind sample - Opinions please 19Jul 18, 2009 7:25 pm Just read your thread and thought I'd add my thoughts I adore the pattern and in my opinion if the lounge room is close by the dining I would use the same so you have a nice flow, each room will have different furnishings to allow different feels I just think if you had to many different fabrics around it wont have such a nice feel. But that's just my opinion.
