Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 13, 2009 8:50 pm I am in the middle of pre-start for building a new home. The builder needs to know a paint colour for doors, trim and skirting boards. The wall colour I like is Hog Hristle Half Strength. So I am trying to work out which shade of white will give a nice crisp clean contrast for the doors etc without being too stark. Preferably a warm white but not too cream. My kitchen will be done in warm whites with contrasting Q-Stone River Quartz benchtops. The warm whites I have chosen are Parchment (Deco Foils) vinyl wrap cupboards, Fair Bianca glass splashback, Formica Gentle Beige laminate for the back and sides of cabinetry. We will have floor boards in a medium tone throughout except the bedrooms which will be carpet (haven't looked at carpet colours yet). At the moment after reading a few forums I am tossing up between Antique White USA (concerned that it may be a bit on the dull side though), Fair Bianca (concerned it will look too cream), or Half Strength Fair Bianca. Any ideas are much appreciated. Ang Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half strength 3Jul 14, 2009 12:32 am I'd go a variant of hog's bristle....maybe an eight or tenth.....something like that. FWIW, we've used half strength Dulux warm neutral throughout. Our ceilings are eight strength of the same colour and I love the way they co-ordinate with the walls (I guess that figures?). We did the aves/skirts in the same colour as the walls but in satin enamel. If we had decided to do a contrast, we would've used the same colour as the ceiling. Just an idea.... Cheers zeke Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half strength 4Jul 14, 2009 10:24 am Try Dulux my Colour http://www.mycolour.com.au/ It might give you some help - we also want to paint Hogs Bristle - we will be choosing white for our ceiling and skirtings. I love the contrast!!! Good luck!!! Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half strength 5Jul 14, 2009 11:00 am Solver Parchment looks great with it. Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half strength 6Jul 15, 2009 2:28 pm NOT fair bianca. Once had doors and frames painted fair bianca gloss, it turns out a very creamy almost buttery colour. It looked terrible against antique white usa walls (which were otherwise very nice) and hog bristle feature wall. Doorframes look nice in a whiter shade than walls - how about hogs bristle quarter strength? About 5th edit(!!): or go for the antique white. Nothing wrong with a white for contrast, it's not too stark a white, plus it goes with more other colours if you want to change wall colour later. Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half strength 8Jul 16, 2009 9:31 pm My colour is Moon River which is very close to Hogs but different brand. My trims are going to be White Smoke, which is a soft white almost cream. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half stre 9Mar 03, 2011 3:18 pm We have just painted our walls 1/4 strength Hogs Bristle and our Trims and Doors are painted full Strength Hogs Bristle. Our cornice is white as well as our celing. We have timber floor boards and high celings. We also choose full strength Hogs Bristle as the colour on our Vinyl wrap kitchen cupboard doors. This looks fantastic with our Blackwood benchtops. Re: Which shade of white goes best with hogbristle half stre 10Mar 03, 2011 8:59 pm We'd love to see a picture Mummy69! It sounds divine.
