I'm finally getting around to sharing the pictures of the bookselves we've put in.
When were were playing with our house plans, we made the house wider so we could fit a wonderful long built-in cupboard in the kids activity room. The consequence of that was that in the family room, we were left with this void. The builders built a bulkhead over the top and we had planned on building in bookshelves ourselves. After researching here on H1, it was pretty apparent that building shelves was going to cost a lot of $$$$ ($4000 was the discussion in one thread )
So, off we went to Ikea and bought a couple of Besta shelves. Then off to Bunnings to buy Laminex paint which we tinted White on White to match the walls. This is the result:

The painting was a bugger of a job, thankfully DH took care of that, but he swears he wont try playing that game again! Next time we go back to Ikea we'll buy some doors for the top and bottom rows so my glasswear and other clutter is hidden away. All up, this cost about $600.
