Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 06, 2009 1:42 pm We've almost finished the planning stages with our architect and soon to start getting some quotes for our house. In order to get accurate quotes, the architect has suggested that we need to work out roughly which carpet, tiles, kitchen, bathroom etc we want, so they can be factored into the cost equally by each different builder. I have walked into a couple of flooring, kitchen and bathroom places and gone "whoa!"....overwhelmed at the choices! So I reckon that the first part of making choices has to be the choice of colour scheme. I'm looking for examples of colour schemes in action in houses, as I can't seem to get the feel by looking at samples of everything. Does anyone know a good place to go online where there are lots of examples to browse? Or a particular magazine that might help give me some inspiration? I'd also welcome suggestions from everyone here! We're building on rural (horse) land, with a hubby who is reluctant to take boots off inside, and plans for a couple of kids who will probably be worse, so we've decided to tile the whole house apart from the bedrooms. We're looking towards a large light brown tile with a kind of texture/ripple pattern through it (kind of a natural stone look), as it won't show the dirt as much, but I'm very much open to suggestion here. We want to keep things fairly light, neutral, and easy to keep looking clean, but not too bland. Suggestions most welcome! Re: Examples of colour schemes? 2Jul 06, 2009 5:28 pm I would suggest you spend some time looking over people blogs and posts in the building forum. There are lots of photos in there. You won’t find one magazine to show you everything….unfortunately! It’s a matter of sorting out in your own mind what it is exactly you need for your home and sourcing those products. It’s a lot of leg work and research, but well worth it.
