Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 29, 2009 6:31 pm Hi I have a french door in the hallway leading to my kitchen area and I am unsure as to whether I paint it the same as my architraves which is Antique white USA gloss or should I leave it natural and then put a clear coating on it??? I have chosen browns for the floor tiling and the kitchen has parchment cupboards in flint finish with cashmere caserstone bench tops. Walls are also Antique white USA. there are also two cavity doors white will be in the gloss Antique white USA. I would really appreciate any suggestions that people, thanks::smile:: Re: Internal french door colour 2Jun 29, 2009 6:58 pm Tillie, is there going to be any other natural timber in the house? I am having tiling throughout the home. Thanks for looking into this Re: Internal french door colour 4Jul 02, 2009 6:21 pm This is a tough one! I love French Doors. I’m not sure which way for you to go, I think both will look great! Full gloss AT/White will be stunning, and the timber estapoled or stained will be timeless. It’s a tough call….I think its going to have to come down to your own choice and what you would like to achieve with them. Either way is going to look lovely. I had asked for them to be painted the same colour as our walls and architraves (which is also Antique White USA) but they stained them by mistake first. We have light coloured timber floorboards which IMO clashed badly with the darker stain they did on the doors, so it was an easy decision for me (though I still posted a whole thread on here about it maybe not so easy! but looking back seems a no brainer). I agree with Mich that either would look stunning. Are they 10 lite ones with the criss-crosses or one big pane of glass? (Or no glass?) If they are 10 lite and you have other bits of timber then I think they will make a nice feature in your house. If they are plain and you are going for a more modern minimalist light & airy kind of look, then go the white. Re: Internal french door colour 6Jul 03, 2009 10:50 am Thanks for your reply Michelle and Donuts The door is just one pane of glass Donuts and can see if it was a 10 panel door, it could have been made a feature. Actually going through my contract and many variations it looks as though it will be the A/W USA which I will stick with. Thanks for your opinions ladies they are greatly appreciated. Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5404 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7935 3 10199 |
