Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 24, 2009 8:57 pm hi, My husband and I are desperately looking for new bedroom furniture but we're not sure what colour/texture to look for. We have chocolately brown carpet, with a full wall of white built ins on one wall and a wall of windows on the opposite. The two remaining walls are painted Antique White USA. So, we're happy to dress up the walls, but have been looking at a chocolate brown bedroom setting (bed and bedsides + tallboy) but we're worried it will just blend straight in with the carpet when maybe we should have a contrast? We thought about painting our existing set white for a change but I am thinking that would be too stark? Would LOVE some opinions. We are absolutely useless when it comes to this. PS, a lot of our lounge furniture is also chocolate including a 3 seat and 2 seat couch, and the matching armchair is currently in our bedroom. The house is a 1950's weatherboard we haven't been able to renovate yet so we're doing the best with what we can. the floorboards through the rest of the house are Tasmanian Oak, so a mid brown. Cheers Re: Bedroom furniture - what colour with chocolate brown carpet? 2Jun 24, 2009 9:07 pm I will try to upload a quick pic so you have the room colourings. It's only of one corner, the bed would be against the opposite wall. It has ornate cornice, but besides that it is very bland looking with our "all cream" approach! Re: Bedroom furniture - what colour with chocolate brown carpet? 3Jun 25, 2009 12:38 pm "notenoughmoney"...ain't that the truth, I have brown carpet and I wanted a padded bedhead and found this nice chocolate brown one, it has a section of silver right across the top and has silver sections between the bedhead and side tables and stainless steel legs. I am getting a white high gloss console to go on one wall just to put a photo on and I have a white leather chair in the corner. I am waiting on a new white doona cover and wish the damn thing would hurry up. Our ensuite is in whites and browns as well so it all ties in. I wouldn't put any more brown in my own room as it could look too heavy and drab.
