Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 19, 2009 3:40 pm G'Day Alll, I’m just in the process of picking floor tiles for our new house. Ideally I would like a white porcelain polished rectified sealed floor tile, size 600x 600 (not fussy eh!). I have seen a tile at Beaumont Tiles. It is called super white but, to me, it has a cream/beige undertone, its not white. I have been told that there is no such thing as a white polished porcelain floor tile. The kitchen is a 2 pac white with a ceaserstone stone sky black bench worktop. I am a little concerned that the white of the kitchen will not match the cream/beige undertone of the floor tile. Does anyone have experience of a similar situation or any advice/suggestions please? Many thanks –in advance! Jenstar Re: White porcelain polished rectified sealed floor tile advice 2Jun 19, 2009 9:43 pm I honestly don't think you need it to match perfectly, and I have had experience with white tiles on the floor and wouldn't want to do it again, they were a nightmare...but, we all have to live and learn Re: White porcelain polished rectified sealed floor tile advice 3Jun 20, 2009 9:01 am It is very hard to match whites and it can look odd if you are slightly off with the colours. Why not go with a contrast for the floor tile? What other colours are you having? White shiny floor tiles can also be very hard to keep clean as they show every mop or wipe mark and every shoe scuff etc. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. The Galaxy with Macquarie facade by Young Homes Re: White porcelain polished rectified sealed floor tile advice 4Jun 20, 2009 11:36 pm I have those sort of tiles in a very light bone sort of colour with a fleck in it, see taffys house thread. They look beautiful but I wouldnt have them again as they are too hard to keep clean, its not the case of washing them the marks and stuff come of easy, its that you can see all the water marks and you have to buff them up dry as soon as you wash them. I have since found out its like having a mirror on the floor, so you imagine handprints on a mirror you would get foot prints on the floor! Or if you wiped a mirror over with a damp cloth and didnt buff if dry afterwards thats what you could see on these tiles on the floor. So its like you have to mop twice one wet and one dry I am so used to mopping my normal tiled floor and just letting it air dry and never seeing water marks that this all seems like hard work and I havnt even got kids at home! At least I can get away with only having to do it once a week Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: White porcelain polished rectified sealed floor tile advice 5Jun 21, 2009 10:38 am Thank you all for your replies. I have taken another trip around the tiles shops and have come up with a grey porcelain rectified sealed polished tile. It does have a 'vein' running through it so its not all one block colour. The lady in the shop did mention the high maintenance factor of my original choice so I understand what you are saying about these tiles in white being hard work. Thanks again for your advice, its really appreciated and has stopped an expensive mistake. Jenstar There is nothing in the various codes and standards that puts this requirement on the builder to do.
