Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 16, 2009 10:19 pm I'm really loving the look of clean, crisp lines with a touch of colour here and there with a beachy feel. Does that make sence, lol. I'm loving the colour Turquoise but a soft version of it. My mum who has been building houses for many years always picks safe colours for re-sale value, they have never lived more than 5 years in the one house. My husband and I have designed this house to suit our needs indefinitely but I know life can change course at any time too. So far my colour choices are: wall paint: Dulux: natural white kitchen cabinets: polar white kitchen splashback: dulux arava kitchen benchtop: QQ Turino Front kickboard on island bench: Laminex Ebony Macassar Bathroom cabinets: white wall hung units Floor tiles: Mocha (throughout whole house except media room) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was wanting to put some colour into the kids bedrooms, their rumpus room, the laundry (no upper cupboards) and also maybe a feature wall in the dining room (wall facing the back patio) Here is our plans: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/stiltkins75/houseplans1a.jpg I'm really loving this wall paint: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/stiltkins75/TurcolourMedium.jpg http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/stiltkins75/turcolour2Medium.jpg http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/stiltkins75/turcolour3Medium.jpg And I'm really loving this look of the patio with the turquoise roof. I understand we won't be able to get the same look with the high ceilings but could achieve the same colour but our mocha tiles would be used on the floor. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/stiltkins75/housepatiocoloursMedium.jpg Am I silly to think of colour? Can you recommend a nice soft turquoise? Will Turquoise suit the colours I have already chosen? Would you recommend doing a feauture wall in the dining room or are feature walls a thing of the past? I will be using Turquoise colour in my accents too. If I use turquoise paint colour on the walls in the laundry can you recommend a laminex benchtop that would look good? I was thinking of chosing a similar colour to our QQ kitchen benchtop Would really love to hear your thoughts. and sorry for the pic/question overload Re: Colour or beige? 2Jun 16, 2009 10:37 pm That looks beautiful I love the colour duck egg blue or wedgewood with mocca or the chocolate wenge furniture, its been around for a year or two but I still love it think those 2 colours go awesome together Will most prob have one of the bedrooms done in it. I have used wilson art cocoa nougat in this house and my last one think that would go well Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Colour or beige? 3Jun 16, 2009 10:56 pm I love Turino and I love Laminex Ebony Macassar and I think they both go great with Turquoise or most colours for that matter. I haven't done any feature walls but am not against them at all. Turquoise is a favourite colour of mine and would be lovely in a kid's bedroom or laundry. Re: Colour or beige? 4Jun 16, 2009 11:06 pm Yeah the dark chair in the 2nd photo does look great with those colours, and the dog too, lol. I'm even thinking about turquoise for our bedroom now I could get carried away and just paint all walls turquise but don't think dh would like that, he's a beige man. I'm getting a lot of inspiration from this site: http://www.houseofturquoise.com/ Re: Colour or beige? 5Jun 17, 2009 9:40 am I love the turquoise colours too!!! I also think beige/brown is safe.. and looks lovely, but a bit of colour can really inject your personality into something. I'm definately looking at pale blue/turquoise feature walls in the living room, and colour in the kids rooms as well. Good luck deciding! Can't wait to see what you do. Dulux has a whole booklet on 'blue' themes i got from b unnings. Some great ideas there! Love Kristi Living the dream. 4 horsey acres in the country. What's the next project??? Re: Colour or beige? 6Jun 17, 2009 10:19 am Love your colours! April Showers is a fabulous Taubmans colour and sounds like what you are after. My friend has it in her bedroom with soft blue/green/beige stripe taffeta curtains and it looks beautiful. However she has it on all the walls in this room. it is a very versatile colour which would go with browns and darker beiges/ latte as well. Forgot to say that another colour I have used is Dulux Pitcher. It is a lovely pale aqua/green. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. The Galaxy with Macquarie facade by Young Homes Re: Colour or beige? 7Jun 17, 2009 11:12 am Loulabelle, I was looking at your colours and I realised why I like them... they are very similar to mine! My floor tile is Ricocco Mocca, is that what yours is? Here's your pallette and mine, my floor tile is in the bottom left... I'm wondering if it's the same tile? I haven't got them in the pic, but I'm also using Smokey Sapelle and Stringybark laminex. I see a lot of dirty green in the tile and I've sort of run with that as you can see. I'll be using burnt oranges and terracotta with mine for colour. I'm sort of going for a relaxed bushy feel! I think your white cabinetry will look so crisp and fresh with the tile. If it is the same tile, I can direct you to some pics of that tile in a display home if you're interested? Thanks for those suggestions, will go check them out Re: Colour or beige? 9Jun 17, 2009 9:20 pm Hi Joles, Your tiles looks different to mine, more specks in it and it doesn't have any green run through it. The name of the tile is not written on the back of it and we haven't received our paperwork on it yet, should be by the end of the week but I know it's a moccha, just don't know what moccha, lol. Your selection is very simliar to mine Would still be keen to seen the link of the display home Re: Colour or beige? 10Jun 18, 2009 10:18 pm Michelle, Would love to hear your opinions, we meet with our consultant on monday to submit final decisions. I used Ebony Macassar on my kitchen island back panel with ceasarstone Nougat benchtop. I am going to have Dulux Arava on kitchen glass splashback. If you don't mind me asking, are you going to have Arava on starfire glass? braveheart Re: Colour or beige? 14Jun 24, 2009 9:56 pm braveheart Hi Loulabelle, I like your colour selections. If you don't mind me asking, are you going to have Arava on starfire glass? Hi Braveheart, Not sure as yet if it will be on starfire glass, still waiting for final quote to come in. I will mention it to the guy though, is starfire glass better? Re: Colour or beige? 15Jun 24, 2009 10:05 pm Thanks Michelle for your help. I love both those colours there. In the bathrooms we are using a haymans wall hung unit. It's a white gloss polyurethane, it's an all in one unit with the benchtop already attached to the drawers/cupboards. In in the end we decided to go with Duck Egg Blue (Solver paint) nothing yet is set in concrete as construction hasn't started. I went out an purchased a whole heap of turquoise paint and all of them were too green or bright for me. Duck Egg Blue is really soft and fresh and I think it will go great with the Laminex Ebony Macassar. Duck Egg Blue would also go well with Nephrite. I'm thinking of painting the whole living/dining/kitchen walls in duck egg blue, should I maybe paint the tv alcove in a darker blue like nephrite or keep it all the same colour? I'm also painting the patio beams in duck egg blue. Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3611 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
