Our lounge dining and kitchen is one large long 'great room' with the kitchen along the far wall with island bench. We firstly are choosing between jarrah standard grade timber floors or spotted gum timber floors Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And secondly the furniture.... I want matching wooden furniture for dining and coffee table and tv cabinet.... do I go for light 'beech' coloured look with perhaps black leather couch and dining chairs to match the kitchen?? or do I go for contrasting colours to kitchen and go with dark wooden furniture?? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!! Zoe Re: flooring and furniture decisions..... 2Jun 02, 2009 11:03 pm Your kitchen is going to look fabulous. My personal opinion here: I would go for the spotted gum floors and beech & black furniture. I would also add some deep red or olive green accents. Judie Re: flooring and furniture decisions..... 3Jun 03, 2009 12:23 am concur with Judie. We have spotted gum floors and had jarrah in our last house. Love jarrah but its rich, red, dark and you need light furniture to show it off. DEFINITELY do the kitchen the way you described .. it will look fabulous. Beech is the way to go with spotted gum. We've done something similar with our kitchen ... black, silver and black granite benchtops with spotted gum floors. Except we chose a stainless steel table with light oak top, black leather chairs and charcoal two pac glass buffet and tv cabinet. WE LOVE IT!
