Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 24, 2009 10:43 pm I have bought 50ml Eco blinds for most of my windows. I have read how to cut them to the correct width with a power saw. So I borrowed a power saw. It has the standard blade that comes with a drop saw. I am worried that blade will be too thick with too few teeth to cut down a blind and may split the blades of the blinds when I cut through the slab of blind slats. I went to Bunnings and saw that there were blades that were thinner and had a lot more teeth but they cost $60-100, the more teeth, the more expensive the blade. So will that blade be too thick to cut through the blinds cleanly even if I strap the blinds and masking tape where I cut through as per the instructions? The blade is 2mm thick but there are not a lot of teeth that is my concern. One part of me thinks it should be fine though provided the stack of slats is compressed tightly. I can clean up a roughish cut with a file (not that it would be that noticeable anyway) but if they split or crack I cant fix that. My alternative is to hacksaw my way through which I can do without splitting the blinds but when we are talking about a big blind that is quite a bit of hacksawing to cut through the slab of slats.
