Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 19, 2009 10:16 pm We have prestart shortly and I need some opinions for our exterior colours please please please Two dilemnas. The original roof tile we chose is an upgrade (ie probably can't afford it) and our wish to have a timber look door is probably going to remain a dream - again too expensive. Ok…..your selections look good, front door; do you want a bold colour, or a colour that will blend in? I can't wait to hear your ideas Here is an updated pic http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu271/kirsada/monumentroof_timbergarage.jpg I would love love love to do a bold door, but am also interested to see what the safe option is BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Exterior Colours - Opinions Please - edited again 4May 26, 2009 7:52 pm Prestart is next Tuesday argh I'm thinking of going with woodland grey for the front door. If we don't like it, we might paint over it later or stain it?? So in your case with the timber look garage door, I would be inclined to stain the front door matching to the garage door colour. I like what you have done, it’s very neat and not over the top in colour. This way your house won’t date! My first idea was to go with a timber stain similar to the garage door - just needed a second opinion BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Exterior Colours - Opinions Please - edited again 8May 27, 2009 3:00 pm Definately go the stained...you can always paint it later if you don't like it. Its much harder to strip paint and stain later. I have a pic of a similar colour combo on our previous house if you would like me to pm you. Re: Exterior Colours - Opinions Please - edited again 9May 27, 2009 3:11 pm thanks gweluphome - that would be wonderful. It's always better to see something real vs computer generated!!! We also did our exposed beams in the same stain as the front doors. I think your render colour will look a bit lighter which will look very nice. But you get the idea of the timber anyway. Sorry I could PM the pic so this was faster. I know it looks funny doesn't it and thanks for the compliment thats very nice of you to say. Ok the house above was the 1st build 6 years ago now.... then we finished off an investment property(newly built but needed finishings) 4 years ago. Then we built another one you may have seen in the facade render colour thread. Built and sold nearly 18months ago now. Currently living in an investment property that we are renovating while we are about to start building..............and DH has already started drawing up the next one Its funny when I write down...... so in 6-7 years 3 builds and 2 renos. (prior to this we have reno'd 3 other properties over the last 10 years also) You know my family and friends write our address and phone numbers in pencil because we change so often............ Re: Exterior Colours - Opinions Please - edited again 14May 28, 2009 11:04 am Thanks! I like the colours on your house I can't see the front door, probably my computer is to blame, but the overall scheme looks good. I have just seen a pic of lundy grey and I am concerned it is a little lighter than what we thought We might have to go something a bit darker - ANY IDEAS...MUST BE SOLVER paints. Another member recommended getting a sample pot, but this could cause more confusion and cost money we don't have lol viewtopic.php?f=31&t=9901 BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Exterior Colours - Opinions Please - edited again 15May 28, 2009 12:48 pm gweluphome You can vaguely see our stained front door and our texture coat render was a dulux colour and probably a bit brownier than yours I think. Re: Exterior Colours - Render colour too light?? 16May 28, 2009 6:48 pm Hi Vid, I don't have the colour sheet on me anymore as I said that house was from 6 years ago and I haven't kept the paperwork as we have sold it. But in saying all of that I am pretty sure it was Dulux Reindeer which is no longer available but is very similar to Dulux Arava...... I hope this helps a little. Re: Exterior Colours - Render colour too light?? 17May 30, 2009 6:29 pm Okay, the render colour is sorted We finally went to the paint shop and asked how to achieve the colour of Lundy Grey (as shown in the brochure). The sales rep was very helpful and told us to just ask for a 150% mix (tint?) or something and it would look the same! We have a sample tin now just to be sure Forgot to add...we found a timber stain for the front door - Solver Antique Cherry - I hope it doesn't cost much to upgrade to timber stain!
