Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 09, 2009 7:12 pm Hello all, has anyone got any pics of Laminex Smoky Sapelle in an actual house?? I have selected it for the vanities in the ensuite, main bathroom and powder room and also for the underbench cupboards and the bench in the laundry.... and I have never actually seen it except in a small sample! It suddenly occurred to me that I should actually see it. So hopefully someone has some pics or knows of a display that has used it so I can go and have a look! Thanks. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 2May 09, 2009 7:33 pm I just tried a google image search and all it came up with was this. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= ... G%26um%3D1 But the kitchen in display has used multiple laminex samples on the cupboards, I don't know which one is Smoky Sapelle. My karma ran over your dogma Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 3May 09, 2009 7:35 pm I haven't seen that colour but our joiner has larger samples that we can go and see how they look together, maybe someone near where you live can do the same. I hope you get some photos soon because it definatly helps to see it properly. Best of luck. I think I'm safe... but probably should make sure. I seem to have picked Laminates that no-one uses. I haven't really seen my other colours either. I've seen my main kitchen cabinet colour as a benchtop.. close enough. Anyway, Bel in that wall, I think the panel directly above the vase, and the one second from the end is Smoky Sapelle. The Laminex brochure says "Sultry Smoky Sapelle invites us to touch and feel...." God I hope so! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 5May 09, 2009 7:53 pm OOoo touch and feel hey? Maybe I should have used that in our ensuite! Ahh ok, I clicked on image no.4 on that link and it brought up a closer pic, I really like the Smoky Sapelle! I can't wait to see your selections come to life! That's weird because I did a search before I started this thread and that didn't come up. Even though it's brown, it's quite grey and muted which is what I'm after. There's actually considerably more pattern to it than what I expected though. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 8May 09, 2009 8:16 pm The brochure reads "soft hued in warm tonal greys" and it is a really great colour but am I seeing browns creeping in there Jo. I really like the darker colour laminates, especially the brown tones. I think the Laminex darker woodgrains are just gorgeous and I don't think you can go wrong with them (but I'm bias because my bathroom and laundry cabinets are burnished wood).
I just saw the picture above. There does seem to be more pattern than in the sample. Am I wrong (it may just be the shot) but I am also seeing a blue coming out in it as well. It looks great though, just depends on whether you like pattern or prefer more block colours I guess. Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 9May 09, 2009 8:26 pm You should go to the laminex web site, then go to "Locate Us" and click on Victoria, there are a heap of showrooms in Vic. If you go to one of the showrooms they have laminates that are 50 x 60 of there abouts, and you can pick and match the doors and benchtops and place them next to each other. I went in to the showroom here in Adelaide yesterday with my chosen floor tile, and realised that it totally doesn't match the bench top we have chosen so now I need to either get a new floor tile or new bench top. Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 10May 09, 2009 8:32 pm Thanks for that netadelle! There's a show room not far from me out near the airport. Will go out on Monday. I still think I'll find a husband. You just need a different forum for that, I think it's called RSVP. I will just say my girlfriend met a great guy there, happily together, with beautiful baby. And from what I've heard from other friends, she's not the only one. Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 15May 10, 2009 12:19 am Hi Joles, it's not brown! it's considered a grey colour in the laminex palette as photogirl wrote. We will be using Smoky sapelle for the overhead kitchen cupboards and also for the bar back and we sooooo don't want brown (no offense to those using brown). Agreed, it does have a bit of brown vein through but it's also sort of pink/blue, hard to explain. We got hold of a much bigger sample at a laminex shop and we took it to the display home that had the same glass splashback that we will be having just to see them together, below are the pics (excuse the finger prints) just in case they help! If you can't see them here all that well PM me and I can always email you the bigger pics. I selected our entire kitchen from a couple of tiny samples in 24 hours (second time around) ... very nerve racking. Thank god it worked out. Smoky Sapelle looks good to me. Hubby and I met through RSVP, we've been married 4 years now and have 2 gorgeous boys together. I can't recommend RSVP highly enough!! Though I did have coffee dates with about 6 men before I met him, and even then it was only at a RSVP function and not actually on the website, but I certainly am glad I met him. We met on a Friday night, and apart from a few days when I visited my sister in Sydney there has not been a single day we have been apart (one of those corny love stories). Thanks a lot DeeElle, we really like them too, hope they work out ok... we chose them from the tiny samples but could not lock them in unless I saw a bigger sample as the pattern changes quite a bit... Wow netadelle, that's great, I didn't know that those websites really worked! Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 19May 10, 2009 8:45 pm Those colours work so well together. I really love that splashback, what colour is it? I shouldn't ask because I had a bit of a splashback issue the other day and had to make a decision, but wish I had seen that colour then. But I will ask. The smoky sapelle looks different again from the small sample and the other kitchen photo but I really like it. I could see the blue in it as well, but I can see some brown in it . It seems to be a good mix of colours that would give you a choice of a wider range of colours to go with it, which is always a good thing. Are you still unsure about the pattern Joles because you seemed to be a bit unsure in your last post? Hey Netadelle, how romantic. I was a bit sceptical about internet dating sites but have to say based on what I have heard about that particular one it's bought some really nice people together. That can only be a good thing. Re: Laminex Smoky Sapelle.... pics anyone?? 20May 10, 2009 8:59 pm photogirl Are you still unsure about the pattern Joles because you seemed to be a bit unsure in your last post? photogirl, I am a little concerned. My colours are really greens, sort of dirty grey/greens. I'm worried, that the blue tone within the Smoky Sapelle will actually be more blue when place with the greens. I'm taking a big board of my wall colour and a big (300mm x 600mm) floor tile when I go to Laminex. If that blue tinge looks grey I'm all good. If it's really blue.... My other options are Blackened Linewood or Licorice Linea. The Blackened Linewood may be a little dark (we have a windowless powder room) and all the Linea Laminex's are a little too common for me. I prefer something a little different. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Wish you all the best.
