Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 09, 2009 10:46 am We are currently owner building our house and I am in a bit of a quandry over door frame colours. In our last house we had Antique White which was very "safe", but this time I don't know if I want to stick with safe. I mean it's a great colour and it works with every colour imaginable - I never viewed it as a clinical colour, but it seems a tad boring. We painted the external laundry door Dulux Self Destruct (he he), which I love the colour. But the "safe" side of me is saying it's too dark. So was thinking about using 1/4 strength. Another thing is we have internal feature limestone, so if I go the Antique White frames I think it will be too contrasting, where the 1/4 Self Destruct I think will blend better. Oh and no I haven't really even started to look at the wall colours that will butt up to the limestone render - that'll be another post! Thanks for any advice. (sorry couldn't attach a photo - file was too big & wouldn't let me post!) Re: Colours for Internal Doors 2May 09, 2009 7:05 pm I think that you have already made your choice. It sounds like the 1/4 strength Self Destruct! I agree by the way. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Colours for Internal Doors 3May 09, 2009 7:25 pm thanks themax. Yeah one mintue I do think that I've made my choice, then I second guess myself. Like today I took the paint chart out and think that Dulux Buff It, Light Rice or Ecru would look great on the walls, which gets me thinking, do I want the frames to "blend" (1/4 self destruct - full strength is heaps darker than these so 1/4 strength would put them about the same as the listed colours) or "clash" (antique white). oh it's so confusing Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3226 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5369 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7862 |
