Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 29, 2009 10:16 pm So what are the rules? Our living area, meals area, kitchen and formal dining are somewhat open plan with some windows visible from other rooms etc. Should we be aiming to have the same style/colour/type of window furnishings throughout? Are we breaking any cardinal decorating rules by having different ones? Re: Rules when choosing window furnishings? 2Apr 29, 2009 10:35 pm I find if the windows are all in within 1 area......2 windows in a bedroom same blinds......in an open plan area where the kitchen, dining and family all conatined in 1 open area I would keep them all the same or similar in style or colour. This is not for everyone but I find it gives a continous and sleek simple look it also helps to keep your walls looking nice and seemless allowing your pictures or art on your walls to be the feature and not to add to another item to look at in 1 room. Does that make sense I may have put to many words in those sentences. Re: Rules when choosing window furnishings? 3May 01, 2009 4:23 pm Thats what i was wondering too but thinking whether its good to keep it all uniformed throughout the house? or have something different in the bedrooms.. you know the out of the way areas.! Re: Rules when choosing window furnishings? 4May 01, 2009 7:01 pm i'm interested to know your ideas on this one.... i asked for a quote from one of the blinds company... and i kind of chose different window coverings all throughout. i mean, the blinds in the bedrooms are all the same, but i have a different blinds in the bathrooms and again different blinds on the living/kitchen/meals areas. Re: Rules when choosing window furnishings? 5May 01, 2009 7:17 pm I am having white timber venetians in all the living areas and sunshade/roller blinds in the bedrooms. I think it will look ok and it's more practical for our style of house. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: Rules when choosing window furnishings? 6May 02, 2009 10:47 am We've done white timber venetians throughout the whole house, except the kids bathroom and the laundry slider. There we've got aluminium venetians, as the boys have NO idea how to keep water IN the bath. The display was like this and we really liked the blinds as they were.
