The light fitting is already gone What style of dining table would go well in there? And what sort of window furnishings? I guess we'd like something that looks fairly modern without being too "out there", but still fit in with the style of the house (i.e. it's a 1960s weatherboard) and in keeping with the French bay window (if that's what you call it ). I can take another picture minus the old owner's furniture and decor if that's helpful, i was just taking the lazy option Re: Help me decorate my meals area! 2Apr 20, 2009 2:48 pm I would use a roller blind on the window, so to get the full view of the garden. I would also paint the frame around the bay area (wall) in the red of the splashback, to pull the 2 rooms together and to outline the view. I would look at getting a chrome and glass dining table, this will complement the kitchen. Get a nice bright rug for under the table as well. I really appreciate your advice I have a bit of an aversion to glass tables (fell through a glass coffee table as a child in the days before safety glass!). Do you think a white and chrome table would be a close enough compromise? Or too much white next to the kitchen? I really appreciate your advice I have a bit of an aversion to glass tables (fell through a glass coffee table as a child in the days before safety glass!). Do you think a white and chrome table would be a close enough compromise? Or too much white next to the kitchen? Perfect....I only chose the glass to give the space more …..space. But I fully understand your feeling for them. I never use glass in commercial applications. White and chrome will be just as good!
