Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 16, 2009 7:51 pm Hi Michelle, This is my second thread in the same week, I apologise if that may bother you by any means As you may know, we decided to go cool white / light grey tiles, just similar to the images shown below. However, we have no idea which wall needs to be painted what colour. Different lighting in the images below show that the tiles are not grey, however they're. The cupboards are not black, they're dark olive colour with black strips. We'll be going black/dark grey carpet in bedrooms, the study, and the rumpus. We'll have black leather couches in the lounge, and beige couches (similar to the ones shown below) in the family room. Thanks. Cool greys and black and white will never look like these pics. Those pics aren't true greys and charcoals. You can achieve the look that you've shown, but you'll have to choose different colours to what you've chosen. Or are the colours coming up completely differently on my monitor?? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 6Apr 16, 2009 8:08 pm Those pics are a M3tricon house? If it's the one I'm thinking of.. it's more taupe colours than greys. Honestly, I think the look you are going for is fantastic.... but it is really, really hard to get it right. I'd think about paying to get Michelle to do an online consult just to help you out. Mek and I can attest to how hard it is to get your greys right. It's bloody near impossible. But when it's done right... grey themed homes are truly stunning! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 8Apr 16, 2009 8:20 pm That is definitely taupe as opposed to greys in that house from memory. I went out there to check the carpet one day. lol Why don't you follow that theme a bit more closely and use taupe colours rather than true greys and charcoals? Then there'll be a bit more warmth with the scheme if that's what you are after. Wait til Michelle gets on and can help... I'm of limited knowledge with this stuff. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 9Apr 16, 2009 8:22 pm I only have one camera and it's an SLR. It take good photos but you can't hide it I don't like the look of the Sales Consultant when they stare at me carrying my measuring tape and camera Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 10Apr 16, 2009 8:23 pm wow that house is amazing!!! The colours are gorgeous, I might have to take a trip out to Craigieburn to see this one. Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 11Apr 16, 2009 8:26 pm Hahaha.. I take my phone for pics.... my measuring tape..... my bag of samples and tiles to compare... No matter which display you are in... tell them you are building with them. Just know the name of one other consultant with that company so that if they ask who your consultant is you can say someone. Then they'll let you photograph anything! Terrence Malick Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 13Apr 17, 2009 2:35 pm Yeah the 2nd and 3rd photo look completely different to the 1st and 4th photo in terms of wall colour etc. I like the look of the 2nd and 3rd photo, where the wall behind the couch and the colour of the kitchen cupboards look grey to me - and are the kind of look we would be going for, except we are going with white tiles. Ahh it's so hard with photos and looking online though, colours can vary so much in photos and from monitors! But from what I see on my monitor (which I'm sure is deceptive!), photo 2 and 3 look grey colour themed (and I love them), but photos 1 and 4 the wall looks grey/greeny/browny haha. Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 15Apr 17, 2009 4:22 pm My trip today to the Talbon failed because the Sales Consultant was at the house signing up a deal with a client, however I was able to take some measurements of the kitchen dimensions. It seems that I could have the exact same setup, except the dinning table where it needs to be aligned along the length of the kitchen (not sideway). I used my iPhone to take photos and they all looked terrible. I then went to one of Wattyl's shops and grabbed 2000 sample of their colour sheets. We'll go back to Metricon tomorrow and start the process of figuring out what they used for their colours. I'll let you know if you guys are interested Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 16Apr 17, 2009 5:55 pm iTalk, if you get the right consultant, they'll give you a colour schedule for the home. The lady at Craigieburn is really nice, if she's still there. If you have no luck, let me know, I'll probably be able to get you one for that house. It will list everything they've used. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 18Apr 17, 2009 11:59 pm joles and iTalk - if you find out all the colours used I'd loved to know - please pass them on! thanks Kara Building with Ventura homes (WA) Building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20516 Slab: 17/04/10, Bricking started: 12/05/10, Bricking finished: 2/06/10, Roof frame done: 11/06/10, Colorbond on: 14/07/10, Lock Up: 19/08/10, Cabinets: 25/08/10, Tiling done: 28/09/10, Electrical: 2/10/10, PCI: 29/10/10, Keys: 4/11/10 Re: How do we make our home look like this ? 19Apr 18, 2009 9:34 am yes especially that dark feature colour. that's really nice.
