Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 12, 2009 1:29 pm Hi, Everyone, We are renovating our 1970s house and we are replacing the roof with a slate grey ceramic tile (Nu-Lok) We will be having (Rylock) metallic silver aluminium windows, and are wondering what colour render for the walls we should aim for? We tend to be neutral oriented in our taste. The problem is, being a single storey 1970's house, the walls are not high, under 9 feet, so we are worried the roof will be too overpowering. We are thinking of going light neutral colour (sandy or grey?) with the walls. Dulux Possum pink? We came across the colour in a "Dulux perfect exterior schemes series 1" fan. We would greatly value any suggestions! Re: External rendering to match a slate grey roof? 2Apr 12, 2009 6:57 pm Boris T Bear…..Possum Pink is a very light colour and once it is put out in the light it will wash out to nearly nothing. With a slate grey roof I think you might need to go with a colour with more depth. And if we were to go with Dune (or a similar colour), should we change the colour of the aluminium window frames? We are worried that having metallic silver frames restricts our choices of render colours. I've attached the Rylock metallic silver sample. (Mind you, the attachment doesn't really do it justice) Would white aluminium window frames be a better/safer option? Irrespective of what colour render we eventually choose? Bit like having a soft grey really. Also….Dune is one of my all time fav colours, it just goes with everything! I would stay with your original windows, 2 reasons. 1) they will be cheaper 2) they should be fine. We think we'll go with Dune for the walls, downpipes, and Dutch gables. and 1/2 strength Dune for the eaves. (I've always wondered why many recommend reducing the strength for the eaves) We'll post our house when it is finished - hopefully sometime around Xmas. Cheers Boris and Barbara Re: External rendering to match a slate grey roof? 8Apr 22, 2009 6:06 pm Good luck and have fun! To install most types of… 1 414 just pull up the slate. If you go over the top, your tiles would not have an even surface to be glued to. Im no tiler, but i can imagine a couple of things being an issue… 1 349 |
