Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 10, 2009 9:19 pm Hi all, we are having major worries about our external colours. Our colours are: Roof tiles: Bristile Classic - Luna Eclipse (shake profile) Gutters: CB Woodland Grey Facia: CB Dune Front Door: Woodland Grey Window frames: Dowell Slate Grey/Woodland Grey Garage Door: Coaba (red/brown woodgrain sectional door) Facade render colours: Slate & Urban Grey Brick colour: Boral Mocha I'm stressing about the gutter, facia & window frames. Worried about two things: 1) Gutters and Facia, don't know if I should stick to the one colour for both of these. 2) Is Woodland Grey at all green and will it all clash - especially with the dark roof? Will I be better off choosing Monument? I'm seriously freaking out about this decision, honestly don't even know if its too late to change. I need a pulling my hair out smiley!! Please help, any advice or pictures to either assure us or anything would be so appreciated!!!! ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: HELP! External colours - totally stressing out!! 2Apr 10, 2009 9:24 pm Hi ICK, I would stick with Dune for the fascia, otherwise I think you might have an overload of WG. What colour are the downpipes going to be? WG does have a greenish tinge, but IMO if you have no green next to it it doesn't seem so green. We have WG roof, gutter, fascia, downpipes, but no other green in the exterior, so the roof looks greyer than greener... the green isn't highlighted by the other colours. Hope that makes sense.. I am not sure what your other colours are so can't visualise it all together, but if they don't have green tinges in them I think you should be fine. External colours - totally stressing out!! 3Apr 10, 2009 10:19 pm I'm not very good an imagining the colours when I can't see them together. However, I just wanted to say that we are having 2 colours on the fascia and gutter - woodland grey and paperbark. I've seen many houses that do this and it looks fine. External colours - totally stressing out!! 4Apr 11, 2009 12:18 pm What you have chosen is fine, if it’s too late to change!! I usually like to keep the gutters and facia the same, but that's me. Either way is going to work. Woodland Grey does have a green tint to it…..but it wont be that noticeable for you, it will pick up on the greys you are having. So…..alls good!!! External colours - totally stressing out!! 5Apr 12, 2009 6:59 pm Thanks Donuts,Hels & Michelle for your replies, all three of you have helped maintain my sanity throughout this process!!! We've had two solid days of driving around estates and checking out new homes/displays, especially looking at the big M's displays because I just love their facades! We've decided that Dune on both the gutter and facia is the best look for us. We see that look as sort of framing the roof tiles. Our roof tiles are really dark to start with, and worried that: 1) WG would be too different to the tiles and green/brown etc (almost like a really bad attempt at us colourmatching!!) & 2) Roof tiles tend to fade and if we did monument it may look strange in the future being darker than the tile. Probably strange logic to some, but somehow it seemed to make our decision a bit easier after looking at thousands of homes just for their facade colours!! Don't get me wrong, WG looked great, but just looked a bit off when done with a really dark roof - WG gutter and roof looks amazing - but I'm going off track here! Donuts, our downpipes will be colour matched with our render/bricks but not too worried about them. We have only just got our scrape done so our builder will hopefully change it for us, if not, WG will still look fine - just not our #1 preference now with our colours. Another question sort of changing the direction of this topic, has anyone used Dowell windows? In Victoria, they call the Woodland Grey type of window "Slate Grey". Is this a slightly different colour?? ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: HELP!
