Now I'm weighing up whether to get a matching charcoal tv cabinet to hide our consoles. I'm still waiting for DH to set up the surround sound and move his prewiring under the stairs . Weekends are never long enough. We ended up getting DD's pic framed in a thin silver frame with a larger white frame on the outside. Picking it up Wednesday. I've been watching and reading more design shows/mags and like the idea of 'layering' a room with the same colour tones. So instead of bringing in splashes of colour I'm varying blue, silver, black for a tonal effect. Hope it works. Also getting our big blue picture reframed with a black frame. We have a lot of light in the room so hopefully it doesn't overwhelm the space. Here's a few more pics in daylight. Now back to work on our bedroom . I've got to find or make a bedhead... Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 23May 03, 2009 12:24 pm he sure did Dy I love the niches, the purple is gorgeous and the silver in them looks perfect. I am liking the sound of the tonal effect, love to see some pics when you have some of that going on! Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 25May 03, 2009 2:35 pm Mek what a lovely thing to say. Thank you. You have such a beautiful house (love grey) I take it as a huge compliment . Wish I could afford a new lounge and put the dark choc upstairs. Note to ppl just about to move into your house. Don't buy the furniture until you get in ... better still ... wait until 5 months after handover . Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 27May 03, 2009 4:15 pm havingfun yes its a grey wall ... Joles gave us the idea for the feature wall.. its a Haymes paint. The lounge and niches looks purple on my monitor as well. In reality the niches are actually a dark eggplant colour but purple is close enough Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 29May 03, 2009 5:27 pm Quote: Joles gave us the idea for the feature wall.. its a Haymes paint Is it Legend??? Sorry to ask, just picking paint at the mo....! Edited to say: Nevermind, I used the search button! Umbertone and baked clay...gorgeous Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 30May 03, 2009 5:48 pm Yes umbertone and baked clay. I love the colours ... very easy to live with. We are going to do the wall behind the buffet and the one going up the stairwell in the same colour. Probably the lighter tone. Glad you found it as I was looking for the paint the other day and couldn't remember the name. Was just about to do a search myself . Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 31May 05, 2009 6:58 am Hi Dy WOW! What a transformation with those few new pieces in the room. Your dinning table and chairs have made the space feel airy and very modern....fantastic choices I love seeing how you have decorated your house since you have moved in! Looking at the pics I definitely need to paint the wall on the stairwell the umbertone colour. I've just about finished decorating downstairs .. now need to focus on DDs rumpus room and the main bedroom wall which we painted a metallic colour that I really dislike . I went to work yesterday and asked my boss for annual leave. She asked why and I told her I wanted to enjoy my new house . Weird I know but I just wander around the house smiling . edit: I'm also looking at a suspension light for over the dining table ... I just love Artimede but it needs to work with the open plan and lights elsewhere (hallway and over island bench). I think that is the problem with open plan ... if you want different light fittings. The builder left 3 picture lights in the house and its the only finishing item we haven't had to pay for twice, so I might put them up over the pics for mood lighting. I think we are all a little bit with you then Dy Also great that you can wander around smiling after all you went thru with your builder!!! I thought you made DH change the bedroom metallic wall already? "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. I couldn't wait to get back home! I love being here pottering around Dy, what a great transformation with the new dining table. Looks great. I've been trying to talk DH into getting a new one but he doesn't think there is anything wrong with the old one (which there isn't) I accidentally knocked a chair off the table while mopping the other day and it's broken (big time) so I figure if I keep 'accidentally' knocking them off then I'll get my way Niches look great too, love the silver decor items. So pleased you are enjoying your home and hopefully the dramas with the build are fading Happy at Home Re: Before and After - Dining Tables 38May 09, 2009 12:00 am House-To-Be We had our first full day out (8am-7pm) last Sunday since we moved in. DH wouldn't even consider a new table until we bought our kitchen stools and he could see it didn't work with our old table.
